Dear Editor
Sometime ago I read in the Hin-
ton paper where they dismissed the
case where that guy beat that Bailey
guy severely and left him to die. The
paper said that the witness that
called the police wasn't too drunk to
call the police and I think he told the
truth, the first time. Was true he
changed his story in the last part he
wun't too drunk to call the police on
them guys who was beating Bailey.
He knew the guys the way I see
this, Some one or several aren't doi ng
their home work. Mr. Bailey is in
ndition.
Idon't think this should have been
diJntiseed without an investigation.
Sinceraly,

When man ceases to learn to

The following are excerpts from
The Train Dispatcher December
1966 issue:
"On Dec. 25, 1830, a crude, wheez-
ing little steam locomotive pulled a
*train~ of three cars along the
wooden-rail tracks of the South
Carolina Canal & Rail Road Co. near
Charleston, S.C. This occasion inau-
gurated train service on the Ameri-
can continuent and thus gave the
U.S. one of it~ greatest Christmas
gilts.
"perhaps this is the heritage
which accounts for Santa Claus so
often wearing the disguise of an
engineer or dispatcher or trainman
or operator or other railroad em-
ploys. Or perhaps it's the other way
around - perhaps railroaders wear
the disguise of Santa inwardly be-
cause, as the New York Sun editor
wrote 8-year-old Virginia many years
ago, ?santa Claus exists as certainly
as love and devotion and generosity
exist in people's hearts, and gives
your life its highest beauty and joy?
At any rate every railroad is replete
with stories of good deeds by groups
of employees, particularly at Christ-
mas time.
~On the day before Ch~stmas in
the year 1872, a local train without
a caboose was unloading some track
material on a steep grade of the Erie
Railroad just east of Alden, N.Y.
When starting to pull ahead, a cou-
pler broke releasing the two rear
cars, permitting them to roll down-
grade away from the train. The situ-
ation was alarming because the
descending grade continued for a
long distanceand a passenger train,
No. 8, was due in a short time from
the opposite direction.
~The operator at Alden, seeing
the two runaway cars moving down
grade, promptly notified train dis-
patcher Robert Gross at Buffalo.
Gross immediately called Operator
Tom Fitzgerald at Town Line, the
next station to the east, instructing
him to stop No. 8 - due there in three
minutes - and line the west switch of
the siding to divert the runnaway
cars. Fitzgerald did as instructed
and the cars were derailed at the
east, or stub end of the siding. No. 8
was delayed a total of four minutes
and the trainload of passengers,
many of whom were standing in the
aisles, were able to celebrate Christ-
mas at home.

A message to the people is basi-
cally something that is not heard, it
depends heavily from whom the
message comes.
I am just a nobody, one who cares
about our Nation, our Flag, our
Constitution, and Justice for our
People. But, I also care, about the
people of other lands.
This war we appear to be ~stead-
fastlf'advocatingin the Middle East
without clear cause, means the end
of our Constitution, the end of our
laws pretaining to Justice, and per-
haps the end of our world, as we
know it, for the Middle East is well
prepared, but hopefully not ready.
Husseyin has linked Israel into the
matter, and we all know that "Is-
rael" has Nuclear Weapons.
I employ each and everyone of
you, from East to West, from North
to South, please call your Congress-
man and tell them that this war is
not wanted by the People. Demon-
strate against the war in the streets
of our nation. THERE SHOULD BE
NO MORE WAR WITHOUT THE
CONSENT OF THE PEOPLE.
Our leaders are leading us, with
certain determination, into certain
destruction. We must immediately
place Him in our hearts, recognize
the dangers of the massive Ameri-
can presence in the Middle East,
and discard the false messages of
Devils.
ericans
I pray each and every one of you to
think for just one moment, for a
President who cannot pick his own
cabinet without the consent of Con-
gress, how can he declare war, with-
out the consent of Congress; a gov-
ernmental body that represents us.
Embarrassment! Who cares. It
does not matter whether the world
will laugh at us or not, it does matter
if we should seem appeased in
Huseyin's aggression.
Remember, until now, the U.N.
has al ways been precieved as a'peace
keeping" force to be used in assuring
peace between warring nations. Now
all of a sudden the U.N. has been
redefined at the same period in our
history during which we are em-
barking on world peace.
And our nation is the strongest in
this world. For today's PEACE is as
to RESTRAINT, as war is WAR to
certain destruction.
In spite of the fact that we should
be setting an example, their deter-
ruination acttially portrays that they
do not care that we will kill hun-
dredsofthousands, perhapsmillions
of the world's citizens, to include
thousands of Americans, many with
children back home, waiting. And
for what? They refuse to plainly and
fully explain.
We have been conditioned, so to
speak, to listen to our top leaders,
and almost collectively believe in
our loved ones; the leaders.

What You Should
Know About Generics
Most medicines have three
names, the chemical or formula
name, the generic name, and the
trade or brand name. The generic
name is also the official or com-
mon name. An example of a ge-
netic name is ampicillin, the name
of one of the commonly used pre-
scription antibotics. Since there
are several companies that sell
ampicillin, there are several brand
names such as Amcili, Omnipen,
Penbritin, Pfizerpen, and Poly-
cillin. Often the brand name is
shorter and easier to pronounce
than either the chemical name or
the generic name.
There are generic drug manu-
facturers and companies that make
both generics and brand name prod-
ucts. Generally, generics are less
expensive than brand name prod-
ucts. In a recent year, consumers
saved over $200 million using
generics. However, many people
have the false idea that generics
are not as safe or as effective as
brand name products. The major-
ity of generics meet the same prod-
uct standards thatbrand nameprod-
ucts meet. For this reason, there is
no reason to avoid completely the
use of generics.
During the past year, the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration
announced plans to strengthen re-
vicws of generic drug applications.
The government has revealed plans
to remove unsafe or ineffective
generics from the market.-
