Story Hour takes place every Tuesday at 10:30AM in the Library (as long as hool is in session). Children ages 3 and 4 years old are invited to attend to read books, play games and do crafts. Story Hour will not meet on December 28 (no school!) but will resume Tuesday January 4, 2000. See you then. Loaves and Fishes had received $4,400 in donations during the first two weeks of its 1999-2000 fundraising appeal. Its goal is $5,500. Director Jane Duffield reported that as of December 15, 1999 sixty-eight donors had made contributions. "Every year I'm amazed at the generosity of so many people," she said. "I'm hopeful that we'll soon sulpass our goal." The annual fundraising appeal helps Loaves and Fishes provide an array of services in Summers County. They include a summer camp, emergency food and utility assistance, the Lost Now Found thrift store, the SHARE food buying cooperative, a holiday dinner for over 200 friends, a Christmas Toy Store and a home gardening project. All funds are fully tax-deductible • and are restricted to helping persons in need in Summers County. All donors giving $50 or more will receive a 2000 Wolf Creek calendar. Those wishing to make contributions may send them to Loaves and Fishes, PO Box 56, Hinton, WV 25951 or bring them by the 127 Ballengee Street storefront during regular office hours (Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M.). Holiday Vacation Fun The Summers County Starting Points Program is sponsoring a two day Holiday Vacation Fun Program December 22 and 23 at the Summers County Wellness Center. Activities will begin each day at 9:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM. Activities will be scheduled and supervised by the AmeriCorps rmta Program Volunteers from the Family Resource Center as well as Starting Points AmeriCorps Member. There is no cost for the program, however, parents must complete a registration packet in order for their' child to attend. Lunch and snacks will be provided each day. The program is open to all children ages Kindergarten - Grade 5. Parents are asked to pre-register their children.
