MRS. GERTRUDE PACK
ANDERSON
Mrs. Gertrude Pack Anderson, 95
1/2, formerly ofHinton, W.V.,died in
a De troi t, Mich. Hospital after a Ion g
illness on Sat. Dec. 7, 1991. She was
married to late Mr. Emile Anderson.
Born in Hinton, W.Va., she was
the daughter of the late Erastus
Garland and Anna Smithers Pack
on June 10, 1896.
She was a graduate of Lincoln
School, received the Normal School
degree from Bluefield State College.
She earned her .Bachelor of Arts
Degree from West Virginia State
College.
She taught in Raleigh and Sum-
mers County. Even after she had
retired in her seyenties, she did
substitute work. She taught home-
bound students. She loved her stu-
dents and was a conscious teacher.
She was a dedicated member of
the Second Baptist Church, an ac-
tive member of the Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority and The LINKS Inc.,
both service organizations.
She is survived by the following
family members: Mrs. Glenna Nor-
ton, Mrs. Michele Glover, Mrs.
Dorthula Jackson, Mrs. Joyce Nor-
man, Mrs. Emmy Lou Alexander,
Miss Dawn. Glover, Mrs. Tanna
Livesay, Mr. John Robert Drain, Mrs.
Dorcus Carter, Mrs. Zelda Grubbs,
Mrs. Deborah Maxwell, Mrs. Sarah
Norrington, Professor Everett
Crawford of Hinton, W.Va.; The
Harvey Pack Family of Detroit.
Love is endless, and we cannot
replace her.
Memorial services were held on
Sat. Dec. 14, at the Second Baptist
Church at 2:00 P.M. with the Hey.
Mathew Saunders officiating. Be-
fore the services at 1:30 P.M. the
AlphaKappa Alpha Sorority of Beck-
ley, W.Va. held rites.
GRAYSON S. ALLEN
Grayson S. Allen, 87, formerly of
Summers Co., died 3:20 p.m. Sun.
Dec. 8, 1991, in a Huntington hospi-
tal, following a long illness.
Born May 4, 1904, at Forest Hill,
he was the son of the late George W.
and Martha Witt Allen.
Mr. Allen was a retired auto
mechanic and was of the Methodist
faith.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Veva Saunders Allen in Jan. of
1980; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a nephew, Le-
onard Scott of Proctorville, whom he
resided with the last 11 years and
three sisters-in-law, Eula and Vir-
ginia Saunders, both of Hinton and
Marie Casey of Norfolk, Va.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wed.
Dec. 11, at the E.M. Meadows Fu-
neral Home, Hinton with the Hey.
Joe Pizzino officiating. Burial fol-
lowed in the Roles Chapel Church
Cemetery at Forest Hill.
Pallbearers were nephews.
BESSIE O. CAPERTON
Bessie O. Caperton, 94, of Box
142, Pipestem, died Sun. Dec. 15,
1991, .*
Services will be 1 p.m. Tues. at
the Burns-Wornal Chapel of the
Memorial Funeral Directory on the
Athens Rd. in Princeton.
IRENE F. LILLY
Mrs. Irene F. Lilly, 68, of 403
James St., died Men. Dec. 9,1991, in
a Hinton hospital, following a long
illness.
Born Aug. 4, 1923, at Hinton, she
was the daughter of the late Owen
and Loxie Adkins Farley.
Mrs. Lilly was a lifelong resident
of Hinton, a homemaker, a member
of the Greenbrier Holiness Church
and a member and president of the
DAV Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by a
brother, Julius Farley.
Survivors include her husband,
Woodrow W. Lilly; a brother, Ken-
neth Farley of Morristown, Fla.; a
sister, Louise Collins of Chris-
tiansburg, Va.; and a halfbrothel:,
James Farley of Christiansburg.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Thurs.
Dec. 12, at the Ronald Meadows
Funeral Parlors with the Revs. Ray
Martin and Carl Edwards officiat-
ing. Burial followed in the Green-
brier Burial Park, Hinton.
The body was at the Ronald
Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton.
Members of the DAV served as
pallbearers.
MARY EMILY LANE
Mary Emily Lane, 79, of Meadow
Bridge, died Sat. Dec. 14, 1991.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tues. at
the Smathers Funeral Chapel.
MAUDE ALICE MILLER
Mrs. Maude Alice Miller, 88, for-
merly of Maple Fork and Oak Hill,
died Tues. Dec. 10, 1991, in a New-
port News, Va. hospital, following a
long illness.
Born July 13, 1903, at Clayton,
she was the daughter of the late
James William and Minnie Williams
Dotson.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and
a lifelong member of the Baptist
Church at Clayton, being a Sunday
schpol teacher at Maple Fork Bap-
tist Church for approximately 17
years, having later attended the
Freewill Baptist Church, Oak Hill
for many years.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, James Corbett Miller and
a son, James Corbett Miller Jr.
Survivors include a daughter,
Loma McSpadden of Williamsburg;
two sisters, Loreda Kujawa of Grand
Rapids, Mich. and Glenna Kounse of
Waynesboro, Va.; three brothers,
James W. Deteon of Fairlea, Tilden
L. Dotson of Pence Springs and
Cartha Dotson of Hines; three grand-
children; eight great-grandchildren,
and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Sat.
Dec. 14 at the Tyree Funeral Home
Chapel with the Hews. Bill Menefee
and Harmon Davis officiating. Bur-
ial followed in the Blue Ridge Memo-
rial Gardens, Prosperity.
The body was at the Tyree Fu-
neral Home, Oak Hill.
WILLIAM EVERETT
RICHMOND
William Everett Richmond, 70,
died at 8 p.m. Men. Dec. 9, 1991, in
a Princeton hospital, following a
short illness.
Born June 2, 1921, at Hinton, he
was the son of Clara Sears Richmond
of Hinton and the late Noah Colum-
bus Richmond.
Mr. Richmond was a lifelong resi-
dent of Summers County and active
in farming and timber as long as his
health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Lydia V. Richmond on Feb. 28,
1991; and a daughter, Burma Nadine
Richmond.
Other survivors include four sons,
Bobby Richmond of Richmond, Va.,
Lucky Rich m on d orAl derson, Shirley
Richmond of Hix and Terry
Richmond of Morgantown; four
daughters, Elgina Ward of
Richmond, Va., Brenda Lilly of For-
est Hill, and Janice Sears and
Meloney Richmond, both of Hix;
three brothers, Ernest Richmond and
Eldridge"Shorty" Richmond, both of
Hix, and Willard Richard of Hi'nton;
three sisters, Lorene Adkins of Hix,
Geraldine Bucklnnd of Hinton and
Evelene Sears of Oak Hill; 21 grand-
children and nine great-grandchil-
dren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Fri.
at the Ronald Meadows Funeral
Parlors Chepl with the Rev. Benny
Allen officiating. Burial followed in
the Bragg Cemetery, Hix.
The body was at the Ronald
Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton.
Grandsons and nephews served
as pallbearers.
