Juniors Greg CarT, as a defensive end, and Steve Brown, as a defen- sive back. Making honorable mention on the team were: Senior Eric Frazier, Juniors Bobby Fox and Rusty Cox, and Sophomore Matt Rodes. The Coalfield Conference Teams were selected by the coaches of the member schools. 1990 WV CLASS AA ALL STATE FOOTBALL Steven Brown has made the sec- ond team defense unit as a defensive back. Greg CarT made honorable mention defense as a linebackar. These players were selected by the West Virginia Sports Writers Asso- ciation. Congratulations to all of these young men for a job well done. Also, ourbest goes to Seniorrunningback, )Rich Lytle, who under went major knee surgery last week. Rich inju- Tied his knee this season and will be laid up from 8 months to a year with therapy. WVC WOMEN WV Tech defeated Bluefield State last week, 70-56. Hinton graduate Monica Mann had 13 points in the game for Bluefield. Monica played for the Lady Cats in 1988 on the State Champs team. Bluefield is 4 and 5 on the season. Good luck, Monica! JR. HIGH BASKETBALL Mercer Christian 59/Talcott 54 The 1st game of the season for Talcott Pirates Freshman basket- ball was held Thursday. Shawn Mann led Talcott with 25 points.
