COCHRAN
Isaac Cochran, 69, of Oak Creek,
died 3:44 a.m. Saturday December 8
in a Beckley besptial.
Born Dec. 10, 1914, at Jump-
Lug Branch, he was the son of the
late Fred and Minerva Via Coch-
ran.
Mr. Cochran was a member of the
Little Bluestone Primitive Baptist
Church at Jumping Branch, was the
co - founder of Sophia Electric and
Basils Electric, and was a retired
electrician for the Slab Fork Coal
Company.
He was preceded in death by two
sons, Ivan Benny and Roger Dale.
Survivors include his wife, Carria
B. Harvey Cochran; two sons,
Tommie Edward and JarreU Dean,
both of Sophia; four daughters,
Shirley Redden and Brenda Bragg,
beth of Beckley, Patricia Lovell of
Soak Creek and Linda Lambert of
Daniels; 16 grandchildren and six
great - grandchildren.
Services were held Monday Dec-
ember 10 at 2 p.m. at the Little
Bluestone Primitive Baptist Church
at Jumping Branch with the Rev.
Owen Harvey and Orville Neely
officiating. Burial followed in the
Vest Cemetery in Summers County.
The body was at the Williams -
Blue Ridge Chapel in Sophia.
Pallbearers were Raymond Ara,
Clyde Day, Jimmy Way, Bennie
Bennett, Jim Brown and Marvin
Rupe.
HUFFMAN
James Allen Huffman, 79, of 629
Brussels Avenue Clifton Forge, Vir-
ginia died Friday December 7 at his
residence.
Born at Hinton January 26, 1905 he
was the son of Oren Luther Huffman
and Bertie Williams Huffman.
Mr. Huffman was a retired con-
ductor for the C & 0 Railroad .
Member of the Central United
Methodist Church, Men's Bible
Class and member of Brotherhood
Railway Trainmen.
He was preceded in death by his
first wife Anna N. Huffman in 1971
and his second wife, Ola Keaton
Huffman in 1983.
..Survivors include a son, James
William Huffman of Louisiana;
three sisters, Mary and Elizabeth
Huffman, both of Hinton and Mrs.
F.P. Allred of Huntington.
Va.; several nieces and nephews
also survive.
Funeral services were held Sun-
day December 9th at Nicely Fun-
era] Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev.
l~ubert Nichols officiating. Burial
followed in the Mountain View
Cemetery.
Active and honorary pallbearers
were selected from the Men's Bible
Class.
BRAG(~
Elvin (Red) Bragg, 79, died
Tuesday December 4 in a Becldey
hospital of natural causes.
Born Oct. I0, 1905, in Summers
County, he was a son of the late
Grover and Gertrude Taylor Bragg.
Mr. Bragg was a retired coal
miner and a member of the United
Mine Workers. He was a member of
Loops Road Holiness Church.
Survivors include five daughters,
Betty Ewing, Louise Littlepage,
Daisy Burdette and Joann Crowe, all
of Meadow Bridge and Nellie Tin-
char of Craig; a son, Homer Bragg
of Danese; a sister, Lori Stanley of
Montgomery and a brother, Vivian
Bragg of Springdale; 14 grandchild-
ren and three great - grandchild-
ren. /
Services were held Thursday Dec-
ember 6at 2 p.m. at the Wallace and
Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle
with the Rav. Clarence Toney off"
iciating. Burial followed in the
Wallace Memorial Cemetery in
Clintonville.
SCOTT
Mrs. Mary Willie Scott, 74, died
November 28 in a Summers Co-
unty hospital after a long illness.
Born Jan. 19, 1914, in Lenore, N.C.,
she was a daughter of the late Watt
Hatton and Elizabeth Scott.
Mrs. Scott was a 50-year resident
of Bluefield and attended the public
schools of Lenore.
Survivors include several cousins.
Graveside rites were held Thurs-
day December 6 at 11 a.m. at the
Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton
with the Rev. ET. Jones officiating.
The body was at the Lugos
Funeral Service in Bluefield.
KESLER
Richard L. (Dick) Kesler, 71, died
Tuesday December 4 in a Charlotte,
N.C., hospital after a short illness.
Born Aug. 22, 1913, in Hinton, he
was a son of the late Marion and Eva
Gillespie Kesler.
Mr. Kesler had lived the early part
of his life at Lowell, was a 20- year
resident of Charlotte and had lived
iq Lowell for the past five years. He
was a retired special agent for the
Federal Bureau of Investigation re-
tiring after 27 years of service. He
was a member of the Keller Pres-
byterian Church at Lowell and a
World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Kathleen, June "1978.
Survivors include a daughter,
Mrs. Lake (Pamela) Lyons of
Hinton; a son, Richard L. Kesler, Jr.
of Lancaster, S.C.; four sisters, Mrs.
Harold (Ruth) Lidden of Lowell,
Mrs. Alvin (Janet) Bennett of Lake~
Park, Fla., Mrs. Harry ( Jennie Lee~
) Bragg of Miami, Fla., and Mrs.
William (Nancy) Piper of Colby~
Kan.; two brothers, Billy G. Kesler
of Laurinburg, N.C., and John W.
Kesler of Lowell and two grand-
children.
Services were held Saturday Dec-
ember 8 at 2 p.m. at the Keller
Presbyterian Church at Lowell with
Chaplain Dean Veltman officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
The body was at the Ronald
Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton
and at the church one hour prior to
services.
Pallbearers were P.H. Standard,
Tom Nelson, James Meadows, Bill
Kirkham, Andy Gwinn, Jennings
Garten, Robert P. Sims and Will-
iam Perdue.
WADE
Robert Lee Wade, 79, of Roncev-
erte died Monday, December 3, in
the Alleghany Regional in LOw
Moor, Virginia.
Mr. Wade was bern in Lewisburg
September 27, 1905. He was the son
of Brice and Elizabeth Garner
Wade.
Mr. Wade was retired from the C
& O Railroad. A member of the
Ronceverte Presbyterian Church
and Brotherhood of Locomotives.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Hettie Bunger Wade and a
brother, William.
Survivors include one daughter
Mary Nicely of Clifton Forge, Va.,
one son Robert L. Jr. of Lewis-
burg; one brother, Paul Wade of
Lewisburg; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel
Erskine of Ronceverte and Janie
Wade of Lewisburg; four ~grand"
children.
Funeral services were held Thur-
sday December 6 at 2:00 P.M. at
the Wallace and Wallace Funeral
Home with Dr. Don Buckalow and
Rev. Gene Miller officiating. Bur-
ial followed in the Greenbrier Mem-
orial Gardens at Lewisburg.
