Bits Of teak wood more than 2,000
years old have been found in In-
dian caves.
The Summers County Farm Bu-
reau held their annual meeting at
the Graham House, Sat., Sept. 14.
Following a fine covered dish
dinner, President W. E Halstead
called the meeting to ordeL
Mr. Ha]stead introduced Arnold
Ryan, former member of the WV
House of Delegates, who described
to the members the proposed redis-
tricting plan for the House of Dele-
gates, particularly as it affects
Summers County. The proposed plan
would split the county in three sepa-
rate districts. Part of the county
would be included in a district that
would include Monroe County, part
would be in a district with Fayette
County and the other portion of the
county would be in Mercer County.
As Mr. Ryan explained, this would
practically leave Summers County
without the ability to elect a dele-
gate from the County.
Everyone was encouraged to write
to their House of Delegate members
and voice their concern. The dele-
gates are Perry E. Mann, 102 Bal-

Mrs. Jo Ha]stead gave a report on
the Blue Cross/Blue Shield insur-
ance plan that is a service to Farm
Bureau members.
Mr. Halstead explained that

Mr. Halstead introduced Charles
Wilfong, Director of the WVFB rep-
resenting Summers County. Mr.
Wilfong brought the members up-
to-date on the many activities of
Farm Bureau, not only in W.Va., but
in the nation.
Steve Hannah, Executive Secre-
tary of the WVFB discussed the
Political Action Committee that has
been formed. Hannah said, "The
purpose of the organization is to
protect and promote agri-business
and rural values: to maintain a well
educated membership, to promote a
healthy, fair climate for the growth
and development of agri-business
specifically, and the free enterprise
generally, by fair and non partisan
politcal activity.
Following disucssion, the mem-
bers voted to become an active part
of the Political Education and the
Political Action of the WVFB. Carl
Amick was elected as Chairman of
the Summers County Political AS-
tion Committee.

for the coming year:

Carl W. Amick, Vice-President; E. Z.
Edwards, Secretary; Jo Halstead,
Women's Chairperson.
