Steve was
technician and the former owner of
Jimmy's TV and Repair Shop of
Hinton. Steve became an advocate
for dialysis patients in Raleigh
County during the course of his
illness.
Steve was preceded in death by a
brother, Ernest "Bookie" Ross, on
Dec. 22, 1992.
He is survived by three sisters,
Mrs. Drums Kellum and husband,
Seth, of Columbus, Ohio, Ms. Faith
Boker of Beckley and Ms. Mathel G.
Ross ofRitchie, Md.; three brothers,
Marvin Ross of Beckley, Wayne Ross
and wife, Jackie, of Orlando, Fla.,
and Lonzo Ross of Beckley; his
former wife, Denise, of Beckley; and
a host of aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, cousins and special
friends.
Friends called 11 a.m. until noon
Saturday, November 15th. at Ronald
Meadows Funeral Parlor, Hinton,
with the visitation concluding with
a special song and a prayer by the
Rev. Fred T Simms.
There was no graveside services.

Mildred "Ted" Sanders, 84, of RR
01, Hinton, died suddenly Monday
morning, Nov. 10, 2003, at Summers
i County Appalachian Regional
' Hospital in Hinton.
Born Sept. 21, 1919, at
Spanishburg, she was thedaughter
, of the late Ed and Mammie Massey
' Lusk.
i Mrs. Sanders was a graduate of
'. Spanishburg High School, was of the
'.Baptist faith and had been a
:. resident of the area for the past two
years, moving here from Florida.
Mrs. Sanders was a retired
employee for the Montgomery Ward
Co. in Orlando, Fla., with more than
20 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her
husband, John B. Sanders, along
with seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three sons,
Edward R. Sanders and wife, Kay,
of Baltimore, Md., Darrell B.
Sanders and wife, Helen, of
Fayetteville, N.C., and Gale Sanders
and wife, Judy, of Deland, Fla.; 13
grandchildren; 19 great-
grandchildren; and her brothers and
sisters, Goldie Kendall of Orlando,
Myrtle Harris and Archie Lusk, both
Graveside service was 2 p.m.
Wednesday, November 12th. at Blue
Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley
with Pastor George Cook officiating.
There was no visitation.

MAMIE ELIN TAYLOR
Mamie Ellen Taylor, 93, of
Talcott, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday,
Nov. 13, 2003, at Sumniers County
Continuous Care Center at Hilldale
following a long illness.
Born Oct. 4, 1910, at Clayton, she
was the daughter of the late Stan
Edward and Grace Ellen Smith
Bowden.
She had lived most of her life at
Talcott. She had worked as a cook
• for the Summers County Board of
Education and was an active
member of Rollynsburg Baptist
Church at Talcott as long as health
permitted.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Orville C. Taylor; four
brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include four daughters,
Exrea Spence and husband, James,
of Crozet, Va., Jerolee White and
husband, Bill, of Talcott, Sarah
Lackey and husband, Eldrid, of
Woolwine, Vs., and Jo Ellen
Halloran and husband, Richard, of
Talcott; a son, George Taylor and
wife, Pauline, of Nimitz; 13
grandchildren, 13 great-
grandchildren and four great-great-
grandchildren.
Service was 2 p.m. Sunday,
Novmber 16th. at Rollynsburg
Baptist Church, Talcott, with
Pastors Dana Stalnaker and Jim
Martin officiating. Burial followed in
Talcott Cemetery.
Friends called 6 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, November 15th. at Ronald
Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton,
and one hour before service Sunday
at the church.
Her grandsons served as
pallbearers.

Tormerly of Wyoming and Raleigh
counties died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003,
:in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center
at Fairlea following a long illness. ,
Born May 22, 1904, in Wyoming
County, he,was a former coal miner
and timberman and retired from the
U.S. Forest Service in Idaho.
He is survived by one half-sister,
Garnet Rhinehart of Pierpoint, and
his caregiver, Ida Belle McKinney of

was preceded in death by her
husband, Shelby James Trout; four
brothers, Dallas Smithson, James
Smithson, Fred Smithson and
Lucy Eddy, Ina Mates, Mary
Prisondine and Florence Kittinger.
Mrs. Trout was a homemaker and
a member of Alderson Baptist
Church.
She enjoyed ceramics.
Survivors include two sisters-in-
law, Helen Smithson and Lucy
Smithson, both of Alderson; three
nieces, Betty Highlander of
Alderson, Barbara Tyler of
Columbus, Ga., and Joyce Smithson
of Alderson; two nephews, Van Eddy
of Columbus, Ga., and Dallas
Smithson Jr. of Orange, Va.; several
great-nieces and nephews and
several great-great-nieces and
nephews.
Service was 2 p.m. Sunday,
November 16th. at Lobban Funeral
Home Chapel, Alderson, with Pastor
Harry Jackson officiating. Burial
followed in Clayton Cemetery.
Friends called noon until time of
service Sunday at the funeral home.
Family and friends served as

Terry A. Ward, 35, of Mabelton,
GA., formerly of Sandstone, went to
be with the Lord at 11:20 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his home
following a long illness.
Born March 9, 1968, in Hinton,
he was the son of Ross A. and Betty
Angell Ward of Sandstone.
Terry was a graduate of Hinton
High School and received a Bachelor
of Scienc e degree in industrial
engineering from West Virginia
University. He received his MBA
from the University of Tennessee.
He was district manager for Race
Track Petroleum in Atlanta, Ga. He
was a member of Faith United
Methodist Church in Mableton.
Besides his parents, other
survivors include three sisters,
Barbara Sue Propps of Naoma,
Earlene Sanders of Knoxville, Tenn.,
and Diane Varnum of Huntington;
partner, Steve Smith of Mableton;
best friend, David WorreU of Mobile,
Ala.; nieces and nephews, Eric Lilly,
Samantha Cales, Laura Varnum
and Zachary Sanders; and a host of
friends.
