"The Truth Shall Make You Free"
gohn 8:32)
By Fred Seavers
rm a Believer!
No, it's not the title of an old Beatles song
that we are noticing today. We are going to
notice what God considers a true believer,
who has a faith that will save.
1. What must one Believe to be saved?
The Bible teaches one must believe that
Jesus Christ is the resurrected Son of God
-- Romans 10:9-10, Hebrews 11:6; John
8:24; Acts 8:37. Believing is not something
God does for us, but something which man
must do to be saved.
2. Are there those who Believed yet were
not saved? Yes! - John 12:42 states,
"Nevertheless among the chief rulers also
many believed on Him; but because of the
Pharisees they did not confess Him..."
James writes, "Thou believest that there is
one God; thou doest well: the demons also
believe, and tremble," James2:19. Here we
find that belief and confession are two
separate actions; and we find that belief
does not always lead to one's salvation•
3. What kind of Belief will not ave us?
A belief that does not work will not save us,
James 2:17-26. A belief that does not lead
to repentance of past sins will not save us,
Acts 17:30;Acts 2:38. A belief that does not
confess will not save us (as seen above). A
belief that does not lead to baptism cannot
save us, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:36-
37.
4. What kind of Belief WILL save S? A
belief that produces works, repentance,
confession, and baptism will save us. A
belief that continues to work, causes us to
confess our sins, and keeps us obeying
God's word will keep us saved through the
blood of Jesus, John 8:31-32, and 1John
1:6-10. Do you have a SAVING FAITH?
