Personally Ioan think of a multitude of reasons to vote for the levy I can not think of any reason to vote against the levy In funding education in West Virginia the legislature is fully aware of the revenue that is available to local boards of education by virtue of excess levies and therefore in my opinion shall never fully fund education Their attitudes are that you must make some effort to help yourself If you are a parent ask yourself What reason can I possibly give myself for not supporting this levy? If you are an employee of the Summers County Board of Education ask yourself What reason can I possibly give myself for not supporting this levy? If you are 65 years old or older andqualifyt Homestead exemption ask yourself What reason can I possibly give myself for not supporting this levy? Please support YOUR local schools by voting FOR the levy Billy Joe Kessler Parent, Employee, Tax Payer Pol. sd paid by Joe Kessler Concerned Nurses of West Virignia Meet "Y2K Preparedness" was the October 19th program presented by Norma Ramsey, Executive Director of the Greenbrier County Red Cross, to Concerned Nurses of West Virginia. She stressed the need to stay calm and not panic but to prepare ahead of time just as you would for a winter storm or a flood. Some of the important points were: Don't take any more money out of the bank than you would for a week's vacation. It is only insured while it is in the bank. Save enough extra water to cover drinking and flushing the toilet, and have enough canned goods for a week. Also it's important to have a MANUAL can opener because when an electric one is not available people often use knives or tools which injure the m causing a need for transportation to the hospital. She warned not to wait until December to buy extra foods because some people would be stockpiling and prices will increase. Have enough medications on hand for a GRAHAM HOUSE OLD FASHION CHRISTMAS DINNER weel, a lrst aid kit, kerosene heater, wood stove, plenty of fresh batteries for flashlights and radio, as well as candles. The power companies can never predict when weather or a vehicle crashing into a utility pole: might knock out the power. The telephone should be connected into a direct line instead of dependent on : electricity to function. Keep medical and financial records in a fire safe: box, but accessible. Keep a full tank of gas in the car, a shovel, fire extinguisher, toilet paper, soap and just mainly use "common sense." Ms. Ramsey said the Red Cross will open shelters in various areas in the event of a prolonged emergency. Since animals cannot be brought to the shelter, owners must provide ahead for their needs. Elected for the 2000-2002 term, was Earlene Strange, LPN, Chairperson for the Nominations Committee and Twyla Wallace, RN, re-elected as President.
