The bride is the daughter of

The groom is the son of H.
Kenneth and Pamela Kubecki of

Prior to the ceremony, a program
!: of nuptial music was performed by
i pianist, Vena Persinger, aunt of the
" bride. She also accompanied John
Parkin, vocalist, as he performed
"Great is Thy Faithfulness," "From
this Moment" and "Love of my Life
during the wedding ceremony.
Escorted to the altar by her father
and given in marriage by her
parents, the bride wore a formal
white satin gown with a two-piece
look. The corset bodice featured a
lace-up back with spaghetti straps
beading, rhinestones and intricate
silver embroidery. The full princess
line skirt flowed into a cathedral
length train and was enhanced with
a scattering of pearls and crystals.
Her fingertip veil was adorned with
scattered pearls and rhinestones
and featured a tiara of pearls and
rhinestones. She carried a bouquet
of white roses and stargazer lilies
accented with alstroemeria, heather,
ivy and iridescent ribbon.
The bride was attended by maid
of honor and friend, Allison Shaffer
of Blacksburg, VA. Bridesmaids
were Chrissy Sams of Alderson,
friend of the bride, Dawn Kubecki
of Germantown, MD., sister of the
groom, and Candice Humphrey:of
Sissonviile-enf the bride. I
attendants were attired in formal
raspberry gowns and carried hand-
tied long stem bouquets of White
roses and stargazer lilies. Serving as
honorary attendant was Audrey
Persinger of Frankford, cousin of the
bride. She wore a tea-length black
dress and carried a matching hand-
tied bouquet. Flower girl was
Madison Persinger, cousin of the
bride, also of Frankford. She wore a
white floor length sleeveless dress
featuring a fitted satin bodice
covered with pearls and a full
ballerina-style tulle layered skirt.
Her matching veil was attached to
a headpiece of white rosettes and
pearls.
The groom was attended by best
man and friend, Christopher
Orndoff of Warrington, VA.
Groomsmen were Shane Kubecki
and Jason Kubecki, brothers of the
groom and Louis Mariast, friend of
the groom, all of Germantown, MD.
Honorary groomsmen was Mark
Persinger of Frankford, cousin of the
bride. The groom and groomsmen all
wore matching black tuxedos with
gray and silver tapestry vests and
matching gray silk ties. Erin
Persinger served as "ring-baby" and
wore a tea-length dress featuring a
black velvet bodice and layered
raspberry tulle skirt accented with
black velvet polka-dots.
The sanctuary of the church was
decorated with a central fifteen-
branch candelabra displaying an
arrangement of stargazer lilies,
roses, heather and greenery with
silver and white iridescent ribbon.
It was flanked on either side by a
nine-branch candelabra. Similar
arrangements adorned the unity
candle, family pews and memorial
candles. Alternating pews were
decorated with silver and white
iridescent bows and greenery.
Windows contained arrangements of
votive candles, berries, and greenery
with silver accents.
Wedding director and reception
hostesses was Sue Humphreys of
Sissonville,.cousin of the bride.
Guest book attendant was Andrea
Macauley of Germantown, MD.
Program attendants were Kassi
Hedrick and Chrissy Leedom of
Pence Springs. Flowers were
provided by Lobban Floral f
Alderson, photography by Brown's
Photography of Lewisburg, and
videographers were Diana Hedrick
and Vicki Wheeler.
Following the ceremony, a buffet
reception was held at the HiStoric
Pence Springs Hotel. The hotel was
decorated in a winter wonderland
theme by the bride's parents. A
candlelight snowflake sculpture and
long-stem rosebud seed packets
were created by Dave &Sue
Humphrey. The three-tier
traditional wedding cake was
designed and served by Carolyn
Jones and featured snowflakes,
stargazer lilies and a platinum bride
and groom topper. Music for the
reception and dance was provided by
DJ Jeff Cobb.
The bride is a 1997 honor
graduate of Greenbrier East I-Li.'_j
Vinia Tech wilh a BS. de 1fi
Bio-chemistry. She is employed with
the Companion Animal Clinic in
Blacksburg, VA.
The groom is a 1998 graduate of
SenecaValley High School in
Germantown, MD., and a sixth-year
senior in the Honors Program at
Virginia Tech, majoring in
Architecture. He also serves in the
U.S. Army National Guard and
holds the rank of Specialist.

4-H Club Starts a New Year

On October 19th., the Pony Pals
and Animal Lovers 4-H Club held its
organizational meeting at club
leader Toni McQuaigs home. We
decided to keep the same officers
that we each held last year. Our
President is Mareelyn McQuaig, our
Vice President is Sherry Meadows,
our Treasurer is Silvana Madariaga
and E. Lane Emrich is Secretary
and Reporter. We are happy to
welcome Nancy Crawford, who has
joined as a 4-H Youth Program
Volunteer.
For our fund raiser this year we
are selling 4-H calendars with
various themes, including farm
animals, magnificent barns,
waterfalls, National Parks, country
churches or horses. Our Community
Service Project this year will again
be planting trees. The Spreading

been 'bred for blight resistance to be
planted this fall.
We filled out our membership
cards and ordered this years project
books. We discussed the 4-H and
DNR poster contests. There was
excitement about a field trip to visit
• an ostrich farm and the county wide
4-H field trips being planned by the
Extension Agency.
Refreshments were served by
Sherry, Mareelyn and E. Lane, then
we all went out to the McQuaigs
round pen and helped to train their
2 yem" old Belgian/Thoroughbred
horse, True Gem, to pull and line
drive.
We plan to meet on the third
Sunday of each month. We hope to
be planting the American Chestnut
Trees on the aiernoon of November
30, 2003 in Pence Springs.

Join moderator Destry Jarvis and former Congressman Ken Hechler,
as Doug Maddy, Jim Watkins, Jon Dragan, W.C. Parker, Jerry Kirk
and others to hear about the early grass- roots efforts to establish
New River Gorge National River. It was their energy, determination,
and dedication that resulted in the establishment of this park on
November 10 , 1978.
