Hinton Woman's Club Opens
Cl{tb Year With Dinner Meeting
The Hinton Woman's Club
marked the opening of the 1993 club
season with the annual dinner
meeting held Men., Sept. 13, in the
Moose Hall.
Tables were beautifully decorated
with arrangements of fall flowers by
Miss Dorothy Jean Boley, Mrs. Ray
Pivont, Mrs. Ralph Wilson and Mrs.
Herbert Vass. Invocation was offered
by Mrs. Bertha Goddard.
Highlighting the evening was an
outstanding musical program pre-
sented by Mrs. Bill (Dora Lee) Ser-
geant and Mrs. Gary (Kathy) Ben-
nett.
Mrs. Sergeant, sister of Mrs. Clyde
Hensley, is retired with 31 years
with the C&P Telephone Co. and
plays the piano an d organ for Memo-
rial Baptist Church in Beckley.
Mrs. Bennett, daughter of the Rev.
and Mrs. Robert Moore of Hinton,
recently received her nursing de-
gree from Bluefield State and is
employed at Summers County Hos-
pital. An accomplished flutist, she is
the mother of six children.
Club president, Mrs. Bobby
Basham, introduced officers and
board members for the club year.
New members include Mrs. David
Eskridge, Mrs. Herbert Ellison and
Miss Jenny Harvey. Mrs. Hensley
was introduced as a guest.
Forthcoming events in the club
year were announced and members
urged to attend all meetings.
The president expressed appre-
ciation to all who in any way as-
slated with the successful donut sale
and recognized Mrs. Curtis Mead-
ows who sold 40 dozen.

He carried a ssa-shelled treasure
box which contained the wedding
rings•
Honorary ushers were Billy Ray
Wright, uncle of the bride, of Hinton,
and Coleman Leslie, friend of the
bride and groom, of Hinton.
Both Wore black tail tuxedos by
Raffinati which were accented by
miniature fushia orchids.
The guest book was attended by
Miss Courtney Leslie, friend of the
bride and groom.
She wore a fitted ankle length
Hawaiian style dress of exotic col-
ors.
She, also, wore a lei of dendro-
bium orchids, miniature carnations,
and pinochio pores.
Programs were distributed by Ivy
Gill, cousin of the bride of Hix. He
wore a formal black tuxedo modeled
after the honorary ushers.
Rice bags and tissues were given
by Jennifer Ward, cousin of the bride
of Hix. She wore a formal Hawaiian
green tea-length trained gown.
The guest were chauffeured to
the park by Jarred Wills, cousin of
the groom of Hinton, James Nelson,
cousin of the bride of Ballengee, and
P. J. Bennett, Jr., cousin of the bride
of Peterstown.
The Hawaiian wedding director
was Millie Ward-Nelson, godmother
and aunt of the bride.
She wore a formal ivory ankle
length Victorian style gown embel-
lished with delicate lace overlay. She
wore a single orchid in her hair.
The setting decor was completely
modeled after Hawiian weddings.
The isle was lined with bamboo
torches accented with Hawaiian
flowers and purple chiffon ribbon.
Ming ivy and anthuriums lined the
outer rims of the stage that was
placed with a view of the Bluestone
Dam.
A trellis adorned with greenery
marked the entrance.
The Elder stood on stage behind a
trellis accented with ming ivy and
anthuriums. All of the flowers were
specially ordered and arranged by
perfectionist Donna Pivont of Hin-
ton Floral.
A Hawaiian di,ner reception was
heldimmediately after the ceremony
at the National Guard Armory in
Hinton.

gazebo topper with procelain mini-
ature replicas ofthe bride andgrcom
inside. The topper was designed by
the bride's mother. The cake as de-
signed and made by Mrs. Carolyn
Jones.
Thereception aides were: Delorse
Brandon, Kim Brandon, Teresa Sea,
Sharon Ward, Bea Taylor, Marsha
Reed, Mary Laplante, Vera Bennett,
Diana Miller, Delorss Young, Re-
beca Bennett, and Ginger Whittaker.
Make up artist and hair consult-
ant was Rebeca Bennett.
The rehearsal dinner was a pig
roastheld at Bass Lake Park, hosted
by the groom's parents.
The bride is a 1989 graduate of
Hinton High School and is currently
a senior at Concord College where
