/ OBITUARIES CONNER BANKS BOWEN Conner Banks Bowen, infant son of Douglas Ray and Susan Elizabeth Johnson Bowen, 2904 Berwick Lane, Gastonia, N.C., died Sat. Oct. 8,1993 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was bern in Charlotte, N. C. on Aug. 31, 1993. In addition to the parents, Con- nor is survived by two brothers: John Layton Bowen and his twin brother Cameron Douglas Bowen of the home; paternal grandfather, Erick Ray Bowen of Coldsbero, and pater- nal great-grandmother; Mrs. F. R. Bowen of Coldsbero, maternal grand- parents: Daniel L. Johnson, St. and Carolyn W. Johnson of Gastonia, and maternal great-grandmothers: Mrs. Elizabeth W. Williams and Mrs. Charlotte Johnson, beth of Hinton. He was preceded in death by a paternal grandmother; Mrs. Gall Douglas Bowen. A graves!de service was held by the Rev. Ronald J. Gilreath at 2:00 p.m. Sat. Oct. 15 at Gaston Memo- rial Park in Gastonia. The body was at the McLean & Son Funeral Home in Gastonia In lieu of flowers, the family re- quested memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1621 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, N. C. 28054. CYRUS C.'BRAGG Cyrus Carl Bragg, 82, died at 3:30 p.m. Fri., OCt. 15, 1993, at his home following a short illness. Born May 22, 1911, at Ellison, he was the son of the late Jack and Rhoda Cox Bragg. Mr. Bragg was a lifelong Ellison resident who was a timberman, coal miner and farmer. He was preceded in deathby three brothers, Clark, Creed and Caley Bragg,and five sisters, Minerva Farley, Mary Cox, Syble Donaldson, Sarah Wright, and BerthaWilliams. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Smith Bragg; four sons, Cletis, Landon and Robert Bragg, all of Ellison, and Gerald Bragg of Flat Top; two brothers, Basil Bragg of Nimitz and Cabell Bragg of Colden Beach, Md.; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tues. at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, with Pastor Carl Whittaker officiating. TONY RAY REED Tony Ray Reed, infant son of George and Selina Meadows Reed of Jumping Branch, died at 10:20 p.m. Sun., Oct. 10, 1993, in a Beckley hospital shortly after birth. Other survivors include a sister, Cassandra Reed at home; his mater- nal grandparents, Dennis and Nncy Meadows of Odd; paternal grand- mother, Mary Frances Reed of Jumping Branch; maternal gret- grandmother, Ellie Graham of Odd, and paternal great-grandmother Bertha Davis of Fireco. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tues. Oct. 12 at the Rose and Queeenberry Psace Chapel with Rev. Roger Brain- mar officiating. Burial followed in the Walker and Hatcher-Cemetery, Egeria. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beck- ley. CHRISTOPHER E. SHORT Christopher Edward Short, one month old infant son of Richard Edward and Cathy Lynn Greer Short of Jumping Branch, died Men. Oct. 11, 1993, in a Hinton hospital. He was bern Sept. 10, 1993, in Beckley. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ben Arthur Short. Other survivors include his ma- ternal grandparents, Ira and Peggy Joan Farley Greet of Jumping Branch, and paternal grandmother, Alice Short of Daniels. Services were held at 11 a.m. Thurs. Students were trained in receipt, storage, issue and accountability of individual, organization, and instal- lation supplies and equipment. Also included in the training was mainte- nance of small arms. Braggis the sonofJames O. Bragg of Hinton, and Carolin Lilly of 240 Pine Knob, Moneta, Va. Walker Christine JolliEs Haskins- Fullen Sisters Celebrate Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Sheri Ann Haskins to Mr. Phillip Anthony Fullen. The bride is the daughter of Mr. Theo- dore Haskins and Ms. Linda Haskins, beth of Hinton. The groom is the son of Mr. Robert Fullen of Roanoke, Vs. and Ms. Gwendolyn Fullen of Hinton.. The wedding took place on July 17, 1993 at 2:00 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church of Hinton with the Rev. Matthew Saundars oiciating. Tomarra Harshaw, cousin of the bride of Hinton, Marilyn and Tan- isha Patterson of White Sulphur Spirngs, and John Maddy of Hinton provided the music for the wedding. The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a formal sheath gown of white, Italian satin flower girl. Chiffon wore a tea length satin gown with roses on the front and back. The attendants carried a cascad- ingbeuqtmt oft4ml and purple poms, delphinium sucalyptus, and English ivy. Best man was Robert Fullen Jr., brother of the groom of Md. Ushers were Steve Williams, brother-in-law of the groom of Oh., and Michael Harshaw, Sr. of Hinton. The bride's mother wore an em- boffd ivory two piece suit accented with pearl no, Beeries. The groom's mother wore a double breasted off white suit. Following the ceremony a recep- tion was held. Mrs. Carolyn Jones of Hinton made and decorated the six tier cake. Tina Wean]l, friend of the bride, Birthdays Christine Jell!fie and her baby sister celebrated their summer birthday's together. Christine cele- brated her 17th. on the 4th. of Aug. She is the daughter of Thomas Jel- l!fie oi Pence Springs and Susie Jel- l!fie of Pence Springs. Talena K. Walker celebrated her 1st. birthday on Sat. Sept. llth. at her home at Pen:e Springs with a lawn party. She is the daughter of Susie Jell!fie and J. D. Walker Jr. She has two brothers Tom and Robert. She enjoyed her party with family and friends. Talena also won 2nd. place in the Pretty Baby Contest held for the W. Va. Water Festival and sponred Mr. and Mrs. R. C.
