Oct. 14, 2003 Forty Expected For Elderhostel Program at GVCNRCTC Some Forty visitors from six states are expected on the Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River Community and Technical College Oct. 16-19 for the second Elderhostel program, sponsored by the Center for Workforce and Business Developmentwith Terri' Baker as prbgram coordinator. Visiting in the Greenbrier Valley, the group from Florida, Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio, North Carolina and West Virginia will visit the National Park Service Visitor's Center at Sandstone; be greeted by the Hinton Mayor Cleo Mathews and members of the Summers County Convention and Visitor's Bureau, and visit the Hinton Railroad Museum, the Clock Museum and the Veterans Museum. They will also visit the John Henry Statue and Thimble and Plow Store in Talcott and tour the Pence Springs Hotel and the Alderson Railroad Station. The Elderhostel visitors will also be a part of the annual Bridge Day observance in Fayetteville and tour Tamarack as well as view the living history of Mary Ingles. A Sunday opportunity to worship in one of several historic churches in the Greenbrier Valley will help conclude the three day event. Baker who spearheads the Center for Workforce and Business Development, depends on volunteer help from throughout the Valley to organize and present the Elderhostel programs. "I could not do this without the help of the volunteers and I welcome anyone who would like to help with future programs to telephone or write me,  Baker said, noting that she can be reached at 304-647-6570 or write the Center for Workforce and Business Development, 101 Church Street, Lewisburg, WV 24901. The GVCNRCTC serves the Monroe, Pocahontas, Summers, Greenbrier, eastern Fayette, southern Nicholas counties as well as the neighboring Alleghany Highlands of Virginia. Kathy was hired by the CVB Board of Directors last August and originally worked out of the Chamber of Commerce office at the corner of Ballengee St. and 2nd Ave. "It's been hectic," she said, ',and I'm not completely unpacked"; but she is now located on the second floor of the Visitors Center where Board Members felt she should be in order to provide Summers County with the best possible service. Madison Bowles Local Youth Selected Local youth selected to appear as a regular in a new television program that will air statewide and locally on WVNS TV 59 Beckley/ Bluefield. Madison Bowles, daughter of Randy and Michelle Bowles, of Jumping Branch, will appear on the Saturday morning children's new program Kids News, which will air weekly beginning October 18th. at 10:30 a.m. Kids News is a news program which is designed specifically for young people in the Mountain State that is run by kids for kids focusing on issues of interest to young viewers. The program will broadcast from the newly completed Clay Center in Charleston, WV and will feature segments on science, traveling WV, and local and national issues, among others. Madison is no stranger to show business. She has performed with Theatre WV at Grandview Amphitheater for the past four seasons in "Wizard of Oz," "The Sound of Music," "Honey in the Rock," and "Hatfields and McCoys.  She has performed locally with HAE Kids in Dramatic Studies.
