WHAT WE BELIEVE
at Riverview Chapel
SOME POINTS TO PONDER:
THE HOUSEHOLD OF GOD: BEING PART OF THE FAMILY:
There are three ways one can become part of a family: By birth; by
marriage; end by adoption. God uses all three means to illustrate
His claim on us as members of His family. Let us consider these
three ways:
HIS BY BIRTH: Jesus said in John 3:7 "Ye must be born again."
John tells us in John 1:12,13: "But as many as received Him, to
them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on His Name. Which were born, not of blood, nor the will
of the flesh, nor the will of man, but of God." It is wonderful to be
born into the family of God by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
HIS BY MARRIAGE: Paul in 2 Cur. 11:2 tells us that believers are
seen as a chaste virgin engaged to Christ. Then in Eph. 5:22-32 he
refers to the Church as the "bride of Christ" We look forward to
hearing the Bridegroom's voice as He comes for us, just as Abraham
sent for a bride for Isaac. Once ushered into glory we will sit at the
"marriage supper of the Lamb" as the bride glorified and ready for
Christ: Rev. 19:7-9.
HIS BY ADOPTION: This is described in Gal. 4:4,5: God sent forth
His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them
that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons."
It is wonderful to be a part of the family of God; to enjoy His Love
and protection and to enjoy love and fellowship with all true
believers in Christ
