WILLIE V. BELCHER
Mrs. Willie V. Belcher, 89, of
Greenbrier Dr., died 11:30 a.m. Fri.,
Oct. 8, 1993, in a Hinton hospital
following a short illness.
Born July 10, 1904, at Marie, she
was the daughter of the late James
A. and Callie Hoback Woodrum.
Mrs. Belcher had lived most of
her life in Summers and Monroe
counties, was a homemaker and a
member of the New Hope Methodist
Church, Marie.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Glen H. Belcher in 1960; a
brother, James Woodrum Jr., and a
sister, Esta Yates.
Survivors include two sisters,
Clara Vass of Hinton and Crystel
Whitenack of Marie; two nephews,
Oswald Yates and his wife, Doris, of
Marie and Julian Vass and his wife,
Jean, of Plaistow, N.H., and three
great-nephews.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sun.
Oct. 10 at New Hope United Meth-
odist Church, Marie with Pastor
Frank/dick officiating. Burial fol-
lowed in the church cemetery.
The body was at the Ronald
Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton
and one hour prior to the services at
the church.
Pallbearers were Dean Upton,
Howard Cody, Mike Allen, Jack
Ashley, Bob Martin, Buddy Light,
Ron and Bill Lilly.
Arrangements by Ronald Mead-
ows Funeral Parlors, Hinton.
JEFFREY W. BURCHAM
Jeffrey Wayne Burcham, 29, of
Princeton, formerly of Talcott, died
Mon., Oct. 4, 1993.
Services were held at ii a.m. Sat.
Oct. 9 at Burns-Wornal Chapel of
the Memorial Funeral Directory,
Athens Rd., Princeton.
LAURA C. CRADDOCK
Laura Cleo Craddock, 86, of 308
Tenth Ave., died Sat., Oct. 9, 1993,
in aHinton hospital following a short
illness.
Born Mar. 15, 1907, in Monroe
County, she was the daughter of the
late Shields Ballard and Rosie Ella
Brooks Jones.
Mrs. Craddock lived most of her
life in Hinton. She was a member of
the Ladies Auxiliary and First Bap-
tist Church of Hinton.
She was preceded in death by her
usband, Martin Luther Bub" in
945; two sisters,'Blhe Ha}] =rod
Pearl Ayers, andfive brothers, Oppie,
Woodrow, Clarence and Merrill
Jones and an infant brother.
Survivors include four brothers,
Landon S. Jones, Lindsey Slim"
Jones and Frank Jones Sr., all of
Hilldale and J. Nathan Jones of
Marie; two sisters, Mary Lena Ben-
nett of Beckley and Catherine Mead-
ows of Forest Hill and several nieces
and nephews.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tues.
at the Ronald Meadows Funeral
Parlors Chapel with Pastors Tommy
Mounts and D. D. Elwell officiating.
Burial followed at the Fairview
Baptist Church Cemetery, Forest
Hill.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
Arrangements by Ronald Mead-
ows Funeral Parlors, Hinton.
MARY DELLA JOHNSON
Mary Della Johnson, 93, died Sun.,
Oct. 3, 1993, in a Hinton hospital
following a long illness.
Born June 8, 1900, at Rainelle,
she was the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William Osborne.
Mrs. Johnson was a former school
teacher.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Dr. Jesse T. Johnson, in
July 1967, and two sons, Jesse T.
Johnson Jr.,in July 1972, and James
E. Johnson, in Nov., 1986.
Survivors include a son, William
4Jack'Johnson ofOsrmantown, Md.;
a daughter, Jennie Johnson Moomau
of Rockville, Md.; eight grandchil-
dren, and two great-grandchildren.
Gravemde sorvicas and burial
were held at 2 p.m. Sat. Oct. 9 at the
Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hin-
ton, with R,v. Dan Ferguson offici-
.ating.
The body was at the Pivont Fu-
neral Home, Hinton.

TED JACKSON LILLY
Ted Jackson Lilly, 86, of Shady
Spring, died 8:10 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 7,
1993, in a Daniels care center follow-
ing a long illness.
Born AUg. 11, 1907, at Lilly in
Summers County, he was the son of
the late Logan Luther and Docia
Estaline (Lilly) Lilly.
Mr. Lilly was a retired strip miner
and building contractor and had been
a lifelong resident of Raleigh and
Summers counties.
He was a member of the Loyal
Order of the Moose Lodge No. 1606,
Backley and was a member of the
First Baptist Church, Shady Spring.
He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Wanda Hoosier; six broth-
ers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 54
years, Annabelle Griffith Lilly; four
sons, Curtis Ray Lilly of Columbia,
S.C., Emil Jackson Lilly of Sum-
mersvilte, Larry Wayne Lilly of
Fayetteville, and Jerry Lynn Lilly of
York, S.C.; five daughters, Belva
Thomas of Honaker, Va,, Sandra
Phillips of Ghent, Barbara Marsh of
Shady Spring, Neta Smith of Co-
lumbia City, Ind., and Rebecca Alli-
son of Welcome, N.C.; a sister, Stella
Cleo Lilly of Ell|son; 24 grandchil-
dren; several great-grandchildren,
and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m.
Sun. Oct. 10 at the Rose and Quesen-
berry Peace Chapel with Rev. Joe
Pizzino officiating. Burial followed

LEWIS Mo MCDANIEL
Lewis M. McDaniel, 84, of Nim-
itz, died Fri. Oct. 8, 1993, at his
home following a long illness.
He was bern Feb. 21, 1909.
Mr. McDaniel made his home with
Robert and Dottie Richards of Nim-
itz for the past 14 years.
He was a disabled World War I|
veteran and was a construction
worker.
:Graveside services and burial
were held at II a.m. Mon. Oct. II at
the Crews Cemetery, Nimitz with
Pastor Darrell Harem officiating.
There was no visitation.

AUGUSTA J. RATLIFF
Augusta Johnson Ratliff, 88, died
at 7:30 p.m. Sat., Oct. 9, 1993, in a
Summers County hospital following
a long illness•
Born Apr. 24, 1905, at
Portsmouth, Oh., she was the daugh-
ter of the late Harvey and Margaret
Cuppepp Johnson.
Mrs. Ratlifflived most of her life
in Summers County and was a
member of the First Christian
Church of Hinton. She was a former
employee of the Selective Service
System and was a retired secretary
for Frederick Sawyer's law office in
Hinton.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Leslie Rat|ill; a son, Dale
Ratliff, and a daughter-in-law, Betty
Ratliff.
Survivors include two sisters,
Margaret Harper and Helen Hay.
