It is the policy at some restaurants that you must wear a shirt mad sho~
in order to be served. It is policy that in a clamwcom students should be in
their assigned seats when the bell rings. It is policy that the students de not
leave until the bell rings. It is policy that if you do not m in your
homework you do not receive a grade. It is policy that a teacher have control
of her classroom. Some people view the classroom as a "munmd place,"
worthy of respect, devoted exclusively to a single purpose. Per that reason
i t is policy that the classroom not be a battleground. As a matter of fact this
is more than policy, it is State Lawl
I have long been an advocate of students and parents rights. However,
when a person takes a pmdtion on an issue it should be rasmmable, a
balanced view. One might ask at this point, just what is policy? A policy as
I understand it is a plan, a guiding principle in determining actions. One
should be prudent, showing sound judgment and keen perception; wise.
When Mrs. Becky Green appeared before the BOE at this last meetingin
