Water Festival's New
River 5K Draws
Interstate
Competitors
A Va. man and a Fayetteville
woman came home with first place
laurels in the New River Run during
the W. Va. State Water Festival.
Patrick Harrison, 32, of Covington,
VA. ran the 5 kilometers (3.1 miles)
in sixteen minutes and twenty-nine
seconds. Cindy Robertson, 16, of
Fayetteville completed the 5000
meter course in 19:23.
Russell Jessee of Marlinton and
A. Wayne Bennett of Stanaford
placed second and third in the men's
division. Carol Davis of Flat Top and
Sarah Crandall of Summersville
were the second and third women to
cross the finish line.
Geri Borst of Beckley and V. E.
Lilly of Hinton took firsts in the 5K
Walk.
Frank Young of Summersville
won in the Wheelchair Division.
One of the event's two youngest
runners, Boomer Harold of Shady
Spring,placed third in the 14 and
under age class with a time of 23:00
