8 - Hinton News Tues. Sept. 11, 1990 PRETTY BABY CONTEST WINNERS Tues. evening, Aug. 7th at 6:00 P.M. the 1990 Pretty Baby Contest was held on Kroger Parking Lot, sponsored by the W. Vs. State Water Festival and the Hinton Kroger Employees Advisory Committee. Judges for the event were: Mrs. Minnie Harris, Lewisburg, W.V., Mrs. Nancy Richardson, Ballengee, M~'s. Margaret Waller, Hinton, Mrs. Jean Keiffer, A]derson, and Miss Laura Brandon, Hinton. MC for the contest Faron Young introduced each contestant to the pmlel of judges, points were totaled and Amanda Beth Cales, chairman of the Pretty Baby Contest presented third and second place ribbons and first place trophies to the winners. Annual Jefferson- Jackson Day Dinner Held Summers County was repre- sented by twenty people at the an- nual Jefferson.Jackson Day Dinner held at the Charleston Civic Center on Aug. 11. The dinner was spon- sored by the West Virginia Demo- cratic Executive Committee and was the best attended J-J Dinner in several years with an estimated crowd of 1,300 people. Summers County also had its best representa- tion in as many years. Rap, Richard Gephardt, D-Me, the featured keynote speaker, gave a stirring presentation on the need of America to regain its leadership in education, competitiveness, and industry and commerce.
