Mitigat'ion plans form the foundation for a
community's long-term strategy to reduce disaster
losses and break the cycle of disaster damage,
reconstruction, and repeated damage. The Region I
Planning & Development Council has received a grunt
from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, in
conjunction with the West Virginia Division of
Homeland Security and Emergency Management, to
prepare a multi jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan
for McDowell Mercer, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers, and
Wyoming Counties in accordance with FEMA
requirements at 44.C.F.R. 201.6.
