Marie Friendship Club Meets at Ruritan Building
!i
The Marie Friendship Club held
its monthly meeting on August 2nd.,
at the Ruritan building in Marie.
Members of the Ruritan Club joined
the Friendship Club for a delicious
summer dinner.
After dinner both clubs held
separate abbreviated meetings, but
rejoined for the program. Friendship
Club member, Elizabeth Upton, and
her husband John Donnelly, Ruritan
member, presented a program on life
in St. Croix, in the U. S. Virgin
Islands. John and Elizabeth had
vacationed for many years in St.
Croix, and then lived there from
1996-1998. The program included
information on the geography,
history, and culture of St. Croix, as

well as Elizabeth's and Johns's
experience of living there. John told
of the wonderful sailing, and
Elizabeth talked about the
wonderful weather and natural
beauty of the island. Afterwards
they showed a short video of the U.
S . Virgin Islands and answered
questions. Coincidentally, John and
Elizabeth had friends from St. Croix,
Becky and Joe Perzan, who were
visiting, and who also answered
questions about island living.
The next dinner meeting of the
Friendship and Ruritan Clubs will
be held at 7:00 p. m. on September
13th., rather than the usual first
Monday of the month.
