The Region I Planning & Development Council has received a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, in conjunction with the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, to prepare a multi jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan for McDowell Mercer, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers, and Wyoming Counties in accordance with FEMA requirements at 44.C.F.R. 201.6. As news spreads of the help being provided, requests are now outnumbering the Lions Club's ability to help. Once a request is received, the individual's application is screened to insure that other avenues of assistance are pursued before the Lions Club provides help.
