m, ,rants of the

Park to greet the family and
frionds waiting there. Mr. Dta-
man Wood prayed a p~yer of
flumkfuiness to our Lord f~ HIS
blessings and for the safety of
each traveling family. We the~
had a delicious meal, as al-
ways, we forgot our diets, and
Stuffed ourselves all afternoon,
but that is what reunions are
for, lots of good food and
lellowship.
A little history of how the
Woods and the/~ys were
related was given by Joan
Mahoney Fitzgerald for the
younger members of the
family, and how they met after
thirty two years.
There were two sisters,
Emma and Minnie Caiman.
Emma mar~ed Michael Matt-

jamin Porterfleld. Minnie mar-
ried Robert W. Wood, she had
two sons, lYmmon Alton and

early 40e. The families have
scattered again and have not
been together for many years,
playing wiffle ball, Friahee,
races, water battles, eating and
news of family events of past
years. On Saturday night a big
display of f~eworks and sing-
ing was enjoyed by all. After
the Sunday morning brunch
and a hike to the top of Tabor
Knob for a very beautiful sc-
enic view camp began to break
with each vowing to return next
year, hoping to get to stay
longer.

Opens
Practice
Don C. Wood, D. O., an
Alderson "~ area native, has
returned to his hometown to
open his family practice•
With the opening of Wood's
Medical Clinic on Route 12 in
Alderson August I, Dr. Wood
fulfilled a life long dream.
"This is home", said Dr.
Wood, a 1983 graduate of the
West Virginia School of Oste-
opathic Medicine. " I've al-
ways wanted to be a country
doctor in my home community
Dr. Wood completed a one -
year rotating internship at Lar-
go, Florida's Sun Coast Hos-
pital earlier this summer. The
internship, completed after
four years of medical educat-
ion at WVSOM, provided Dr.
Wood with the opportunity to
work in all areas of a busy
hospital,
Now a fully - licnesed gen-
eral practitioner, Dr. Wood will
offer his patients a full range of
family practice care.
Dr. Wood, his wife Louise,
and their two children, two -
year old Christopher and new-
horn Sarah, are now living in
Clayton, Summers County. He
is the son of Ira and Emma
Wood of Alderson.
A 1975 graduate of Green-
brier East High School, Dr.
Wood completed his under-
graduate work priork to ent-
ering WVSOM at Marshall Un-
iversity.

The booklets contain information on the changes that may
affect a benefieiary's eligibility to benefits or the amount of
benefits. Changes must be reported to Social security pro-
mptly to avoid overpayment of benefits.
People who don't take the time to read the booklets are running
a number of risks, not the least of which is that they may get
benefits they should not have gotten. Such overpayments must 13¢
repaid either in lump sum or by installment payments withheld
from future checks.
There are booklets for each of the four benefit programs
administered by SSA. They are :
Your Social Security Rights and Responsibilities, Retirement and
Survivor Benefits ( Pub. No. 77);
A Reminder If You Get Black Lung Benefits ( Pub. No. 134);
Your Social Security Rights and Responsibilities, Disability
Benefits ( Pub. No. 153); and
What You Have To Know About SSI ( Pub. No. ll01t).

Never again will you hear the roar of Number Three and Number
Four.
They've been retired tee old to run, their youth is past their
misskm done.
The Sportsman and the FFV, once something for the eyes to see,
Will gather rust and dust and grime, throttles closed by the hands
of time.
But we will still remember.
Remher when the tracks would hum when Three and Four would
homeward come,
And the wiper's hands would lovingly feel the polished brass and
bu~ steel
While he tenderly bru~ed their lines with care and whispered
softly a fervent prayer.
The train crews would beam with pride as they climbed sbeard to
take their ride
And passengers filled the coaches.
Coaches where they fonnd comfort and ease, where Chessie tried
so hard to please.
Always taking exceptional pride to aceomodate all who chose to
ride
On the C & O line And of all the trains they chose to adore Number
Three and Number Four.
Ne more you'll hear the victory cry in valley deep or mountain
high,
Their whistles are stlHed forever.
Forever is a long, long time not to hear the hells sweet chime,
Or his of steam or the diesel's wail. or the clicking of wheels rail
on rail.
But long, long after memory wanes, the ghosts of these valiant
trains
Will ride the rails on darkened nights, guided by the starry lights
From the roundhouse in the sky.
