W. V. Water Festival Casting Contest A Winner
The 1999 Water Festival Casting
Contest proved to be an outstanding
event on Saturday evening July 31st
with many very skillful fishermen
showing up to demonstrate their
casting ability.
Winners of the various categories
were as follows: First Place, Bait
Casting, to 12 years, Codie Nettles
of Shady Spring. Spinning, to 12
years old, Codie Nettles Spin casting
to 17 years old, Ben Helms of
Hinton, and in the adult category,
Dan Hudson of Ronceverte was the
winner of the spin casting category.
In the fly casting event, Ben Helms
was the winner in the up to 17 years
group and Dan Hudson was the
winner in the adult group. Each
winner received new rods and reels.
Congratulations to Cod/e, Ben and
Dan for being our big winners.
A very popular event of the
evening was the distance categry
for the contestants in the 6 to I0 year
old group. The winners were, 1st
place, Jordan Eskridge with a cast
of 110 ft. and 5 in. and 2nd place was
Andy Hudson with a cast of 105 ft. 9
in.

present Gospel Music Night on
Saturday August 14, at 7:00 p. m.
Featured performers for the evening
include The Hoppers, a premier
award winning family group in
gospel, and saxophonist Dennis
Sparks.

MIHOW Wish List
The MIHOW Program is a
mother-to-mother information and
support program serving parents of
children up to three years of age. The
program operates out of the Family
Resource Center at 411 Temple
Street. The MIHOW Home Visitors
will be reaching out to up to 24
families throughout Summers
County. The Visitors currently have
need of the following baby
equipment for the families they have
been visiting:
