1 1 AMANDA JEAN GARTEN Amanda Jean Garten, 86, of Hinton passed away at the home of her daughter Regina in Cross Lanes, WV on Monday, August 1, 2016 following a short illness. Born at Buck, WV on July 10, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Alva Dayton and Elva Clarice Lowry Wood. She was a graduate of Forest Hill High School. Attended the Forest Hill United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her visits to the Hinton Senior Citizens Center and was a faithful servant to the Lord, also devoted wife, mother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Leonard Garten. Also by one son Charles Rexford Garten, two brothers Elmer and Bernard Wood and one sister Betty Wood Smith Survivors include two daughters: Thelma Jean Garten of Hinton and Regina Garten VanNoy of Charleston, one Brother Alva D. Wood and wife Stella of Cleveland OH, one sister Ruby Wood THOMAS A. MANSFIELD Thomas Alfred Mansfield, 74, of Satsuma, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Vicars, West Virginia, he resided in Putnam County since 1991 coming from West Palm Beach. Tom worked in the construction Bradley and husband Lowell of industry with Bryson - Hicks Pfafftown, NC, one grandson David Construction in West Palm Beach RexfordVanNoyofRaleigh, NC, and for 22 years where he helped many nieces and nephews, remodel many of the older popular Graveside services were held at buildings in downtown West Palm ll:30A.M, on Wednesday, August3, Beach. Tom never met a stranger 2016 at the Huffman Cemetery at and will always be remembered for Buck, WV, with Pastor Mike McCoy his friendly smile and welcoming Officiating. Friends called at the cemetery from 11:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 3. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Forest Hill United Methodist Church.
