Thought For Today- The Ch-
• ristian's highest goal should be
to become more like our Lord.
Reading From The Bible-
"And they stoned Stephen, call-
ing upon God, and saying. Lord
Jesus receive my spirit" ( Acts
7:59). Stephen could have pr-
eached his sermon in such a
way as to gain the approval of
the crowd. Instead, he made it
unmistakably clear that their
only hope of salvation was Jesus
Christ. Such conviction words
ware too much for the proud
rcqigious leaders who had con-
sented to Jesus' death. They
shouted with a loud voice and
cast him out of the city and
stoned him ( Acts 7:57-58).
Stepben's last testimony was a
prayer for the enemies: "Lord
lay not this sin to their char-
ge". (7:60). Does God really
expect us to deny ourselves so
• completely for him? The an-
swer is YES! Only eternity will
reveal what effect Stephea's
prayer and testimony had on his
enemies. One young man who
consented to Stephen being
martyred later became the
greatest apostole the world has
ever know- the Apostole Paul.
Perhaps if Stephen had not
remained loyal, tile church
might never have known this
great apostole.
The indwelling Spirit of Christ
enables us to pray for these we
wrong as lake our Lord on the
cross, we too, must pray, "
Father, forgive them ( Luke
23:34) Christ , the perfect ex-
ample of selfp sacrifice, must
become I,ord of our life, even in
the daily affairs of our home
life. between husband and wife,
brother and sister, and all with
whom we came in contact.
Here-
by perceive we the love of God,
because he laid down his life for
us arid we outh to lay down our
lives for the brethren, ( I John
3:16).
Memory Verse For The Week-
And let us not be weary in well
doing: for in due season we
shall reap, if we faint not.

Glory and priase to our
Heavenly Father who has laid it
on his people hearts to pray and
send gifts for little Rodney
McBride. Rodney and his
family sincerly appreciate the
love of Christian people. Rod-
nay is feeling much better and
seems to be adjusting to his
chemotberaphy and his parents
are not worrying about how
they can have money to make
trips to Charlottesville and how
they will have money to pay for
thier little son's lodging and
medicine while they are at The
Rahab. Each letter that has
been received is very much
appreciated. Some of the lett-
ers contained gifts in thank-
giving for being bless with
healthy children, others told
heart breaking experiences in
their families. One dear lady
told of how she had donated one
of her kidneys to her son and
was then told by his doctor that
he could not live and how God
took over and spared his life.
Then last year her 23 year old
son was burned up in a fire and
a gift was included in the letter
in his memory. One letter was
form a little teenage girl who
thought she had been healed of
cancer but had a recurrence
and had gone through the pain
of Chemotheraphy over again.
We are thankful for the know-
ledge God is giving doctors to //.
fight cancer but I am more
thankful for a God of mercy who
gives us strength to come th-
rough our troubles and testing
and promises to give us a new
body that will never know pain.
