ATWELL REUNION
Family and friends of the late
Halsey and Cora Ryan Atwell
met at the Calvary Baptist
Church picnic area for a fam-
ily reunion Sunday. Following
the invocation given by Earl
Atwell, a bountiful picnic lun-
ch was enjoyed by over 100
people who registered.
All six of the remaining At-
well family were present, Mrs.
Katherine Atwell of Pence Sp-
rings, Mrs. Manael ( Laura-
bell) Fox of Marie, Mrs. Nell-
ie Gravely, Mrs. Charles (
Arminda) Gravely of Charles-
ton; Theodore Atwell, all of
Buck and Earl Atwell of Boz-
oo.
Following lunch the group
gathered in the church for a son-
service, a time of testimonies, a
sermonette by Rev. Eddie Har-
ris, pastor of the Big Creek
]ptist Church.
The oldest person present was
Mrs. Eddie Lowe who is 87
years old.
The youngest Atwell present
was little Andrea Atwell, dau-
ghter of Mr and Mrs. Jimmie
Atwell. The youngest person
was little Amber Howdock, dau-
ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve
Howdock.
Others attending were: Bob

Ernest Atwell, Jimmy Buck-
land, Rosa Hamm, Mr. and

The family voted to have the
reunion annually with a date
chosen at a later date.
Big Creek Men's Fellowship
The Big Creek Baptist Ch-
urch men's fellowship met to re-
organize and make plans for the
coming year of service.
The fourth Saturday night of
each month will be the meeting
date. New officers elected for
the ocming year are: President,
Jim Cochran, Vice- President
Bob Burdette, Sec. and Treas-
urer Estil Adkins, program
chairman Ronnie Burdette and
usher Leslie Grimmett.
A special work-day at the
church was set for August 4th.
at 2:00 a.m. to winterize the
church. A weiner roast was to
be served for supper with all
wives and children invited• Cir-
cle prayer closed the meeting.
Indian Mills Church
"The Seeds you sow, good or
bad, will one day bring forth a

love and encouragement was
read to the women from Sis-
ter Pina Smith and Marie Dos-
ier. Business session consisted
of a gift purchased by miss-
ion fellowship to be given soon
as a love-gift to a group and will
climax an evening of fellowship
News of prison visitation was
given by Jan Bowling• Special
thanks from prisoners for much
appreciated gift. The group will
vote on a decision whether to
support financialy a need made
known by letter from Green-
brier County. The love-gift don-
ation, will be sent to help a
cancer victim.
In the absence of lesson
leader, Judy Carr, the group
studied and discussed I Peter 4.
The August lesson will be in
charge of Judy Carr and will be
Revelation 21 with Thelma
Carr as devotional leader. The
love-gift was received and ded-
icated. Those in attendance :

The Mary Elizabeth Circle of
the Big Creek Baptist Church
met for the regular meeting at
the church Tuesday. Mrs Jack
Ward, President, called the
meeting to order at one- o'
clock.
The service opened with
group singing. Mrs. Hubert
Crawford was in charge of the
devotions reading Psalms 23
closing with group prayer•
The secretary reported twe-
ve sick visits, 26 home miss-
ion and 17 sunshine cards sent
during the month•
New business included the
decision to give love-gift don-
ation to the church fund and set
a special day in August to clean
the church for the upcoming
revival, beginning August 13th
with Rev. Les Garten as en-
angelist.
Vacation Bible School has be
set for August 20- 24 from 9:30-
11:30 a.m. Hostess for the
month of August will be Mrs.
Earl Cox, Devotion will be given
by Mrs. Charles Cox, and Bible
Quiz leader will be Mrs. Jack
Hartwell. The lesson will be
Matthew 25.

Mount Olivet Camp
To Convene
The 64th annual Mount Oliv-
et Camp will begin at 7:30 p.m.
on Friday August 10, and cont-
inue with morning, afternoon
and evening services through
Sunday, August 19. The camp is
located on Madam Creek, 2/
miles west of Hinton.
The camp evangelist is Rev.
A. Raymond Lusk, assistant
overseer of the Christian Nat-
ion Church and pastor of a
thriving Christian Nation
Church which he organized near
Welch, W.Va. Evangelistic ser-
vices will be at'7:30 p.m. each
evening•
Music will be under the dir-
ection of Steve Morrison, a 1979
graduate of Circleville Bible
College, Circleville, Ohio. Steve
will also be in charge of youth
activities at the camp, and his
wife Vicki will assist in the
special music•
• •Missionary Service• At 2:30
p.m. on Sunday, August 12, Rev.
Stanley Dyer will present a
missionary challenge• For the
past 15 years, he and his fam-
ily have served as missionar-
ies in Japan with the OMS
International. Sunday School
will be held at 10 a'.m. each
Sunday, followed by preaching
at 11 a.m.
Bible Study. At 10:30 a.m•
each weekday, including Satur- I
days, a Bible study session will'
be held at the camp, led by
Anthony Headiey, Bible teach-
er• A native of Barbados, West
Indies, he now pastors a Un-
ited Methodist Church at Paris,
Ky., while attending Asbury
Theological Seminary. He plans
to return to the West Indies as
an evangelist.
• .Teachers' Seminar. At 2 p.m.
each weekday, beginning Mon-
day, August 13, a training
seminar will be held at the
camp for active and prospect-
ive Sunday School teachers.
This is open to all area ch-
urches and to other interested
persons. Miss Adina Cobham, of
Barbados, West Indies, will dir-
ect the seminar.
..Meetings for children and
youth will also begin at 2 p.m.
each weekday, including Sat-
urdays. Miss Janette Post will
be in charge of children's work
and I)uDpets. She is on the staff
at Bethany Children's Home,
Bethany, Ky.
