HEALTH TIP OF THE WEEK:
AVOIDING HEAT STROKE
* Stay inside if the temperature
is above 90 degrees or over 70
degrees if humidity is over 65
degrees if humidity is over 65%.
* Wear lightweight, light-colored
clothing, preferably cotton.
* Wear a hat to keep your head
cool and shield eyes from sun.
* Keep hair short, or pull into a
pony tail.
* Take cool showers or baths.
* Eat juicy, fresh fruits like
watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes and
strawberries.
* Most importantly, drink lots of
water.
From Pathways To Wellness
Talcott Elenentary School principal, Gaye Shaver, proudly
announces the selection of the Students of the Month for May. First
grader, Tyler Romanello, was chosen to represent grades K-2 and
third grader, Jesse Webb, was honored with the 3-5 grade selection.
Each teacher at Talcott nominates a student each month to be
recognized for academic achievement, good citizenship,
outstanding behavior or noted improvement in a specific area.
These nominations are presented to a committee of teachers along
with a report of each student's achievement. The committee then
selects one student from grades K-2 and one student from grades
3-5 each month. Students nominated for the month of May were:
Mrs. Fleshman's kindergarten - Aaron Clay; Mrs. Mock's
kindergarten. Katey Adkins; Mr. Tabor's first grade - Zeke Miller;,
Mrs. Pierces first grade - Tyler Romanello; Mrs. Ford's second grade
- Kara Wood; Mrs. Tabor's second grade - Teaira Gore; Ms. Hypes
third grade - Jesse Webb; Mrs. Bower's third grade - Rachael
Kesner; Mrs. Boone's fourth grade - Tiffany Summers; Mr. Oxley's
fourth grade - David Gunter; Mr. Oxley's fifth grade - Amos Hicks;
