8 - H/nton News Tues. July 27. 1999 Community Bulletin Board CASTING CONTEffr TO BE HELD DUR/NG THE 1999 • WEST VIRGINIA WATER FESTIVAL "Dust off your favorite fishing reel." The Water Festival will be having a casting contest again this year. Last years event proved to be very exciting. Categories will be spincast/ spinning, bait casting, and fly casting. The 3 age groups for spincast/spinning and bait casting are through 12 years of age, 13 through 17 and 18 to adult. Fly casting will consists of the following 2 age groups: up through 15 years and 16 to adult. Rod and reel combinations will be awarded to the winners in each category and age group. There will be an entry fee of $2.00 for each category that you enter. This years event will feature a distance category for the youngstem six to ten years of age. Entry forms will be made available at local sports shops or you may register at the park on the evening of the contest. The contest will be held at BeUepoint Park on Saturday, July 31 at 7pm. If you have any questions you may call 466-4694. HOMECOMING SERVICES The Laurel Creek Baptist Church will be holding Homecoming Services, Aug. 1st. Combined A. M. services starting at 10:30 A. M. Lunch from noon until approx. 1:30 P.M. Followed by homecoming message. The Rev. Melvin Wills will be .special guest speaker. Special singing also. Everyone is invited to attend. i HOMECOMING SERVICES • A Homecoming will be held at Low Gap Methodist Church on Sunday, August 8th., beginning at 11: A. M. The speaker will be Pastor Eddie Wills. All are welcome. HOMECOMING Oak Grove United Methodist Church will hold Homecoming on Sunday, August 1st. Worship service at 11:00 AM. Covered dish lunch 12:30 PM. Special singing in the afternoon. Everyone welcome. ANNUAL TURNER REUNION AUGUffr 14 The descendants of Samuel Preston and Esta Turner will gather Saturday, August 14, 1999, at Summers County 4-H Camp, located off Rt. 12, South of Hinton. Arrival time is at 11 AM, lunch will be at noon. The afternoon will consist of games, auction, singing and door prizes, etc. Don't forget homemade items and crafl for the auction. All friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day. HIGH SCHOOL 8OCCER NEWS If you are in the 9th-12 grade and would like to play soccer for the high school this fall please call Coach Szilvasi to sigh up. Soccer is open to beth boys and girls. Practice will begin in early August. FLOWER SHOW The W. VA. State Water Festival Flower Show will be held Aug. 6th. and 7th. at The Moose Lodge. The hours ofthe show will be flom 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. both days. The Moose Lodge is located on Second Ave. between Ballengee and James St. The Ladies of the Moose are coordinators. QUILT SHOW The 1999 WV State Water Festival Quilt Show will be held Aug. 5-7 at the Summers County Middle School gymnasium. The show will be sponsored by the J. BY Nimitz Community Outreach Service Club (formerly Extension Homemakers). Registration will be Wed., Aug. 4th. from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the gym. Pick-up of quilts will be Sat., Aug. 7th. A $$0.00 Savings Bond will be awarded to the best of show and ribbons to People's Choice, First, Second and Third place winners. You may pre-register by calling Erma Meadows 466-3907.
