Little Miss Mermaid (00qmtestants The Little Miss Mermaid Coronaton will be held Aug. 2nd. at 7 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 100 Union St. in downtown Hinton. Contestants are: VICTORIA COX Victoria Elizabeth Cox is the daughter of Calvin and Sara Cox. She is in the 4th. grade at Talcott Elementary. She is a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She also belongs to the Talcott Tip Top 4-H club, Talcott Hillbilly member. She is a honor student. Victoria was a contestants for Little,iss Mermaid last year. She enjoys swimming, volleyball; skating and cheerleading. She was student of the month. She has one sister, Kimberly. Victoria's grandparents are Willard and Vivian Boone and the late Betty Boone, and Calvin and Letha Cox. AMBER DICK Amber Nicole Dick is the daughter of Tins Maddy of Hinton and Iroy Dick of Jumping Branch. She is in the 4th. grade at Hnton Area Elementary where she is a honor student. Amber is an active member of Brooks Baptist Church. She played softball for 2 years, member ofthe Drama Club in the 2nd. grade, cheerleader, basketball. Alsocas elected for Snow Queen 2 and 4th. grade. She received an award for Math field day, Physical Fitness and awards for Grand Prix at Awana. She has one brother, Derek. Grandparents are Leroy and Mattie Dick of Hinton and Edna Aucramanne of Canada. KIMBERLY COX Kimberly Savannah Cox is the daughter of Calvin and Sara Cox. She is in the 2nd. grade at Talcott Elementary. She is a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She also belongs to the Talcott Tip Top 4-H club, Talcott 4-H Hillbilly member. She is a honor student. Kimberly was a Carnival Queen contestant, a honor roll student of the month. She enjoys swimming, sports and working with animals. She has one sister, Victoria. She is in the 2rid. grade at Talcott Elementary. She is a honor student, has helped with school fundraiser, helped classmates with work. She has made student of the month and Mindful Student. Celese has gone to the Straight A Banquet the past two years. She has two sisters, Ashley and Heather. RACHEL MEADOWS Rachel Leah Meadows is the daughter of Bill and Kathy Meadows of Hinton. She is in the 2nd. grade. Rachel attends Jumping Branch Tabernacle Church. She is a honor student. Rachel was Snow Queen in 1998. She enjoys swimming, roller skating, gymnastics. She received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award for 3 years. Rachel has one brother, Jason. Her grandparents are Betty Meadows and James and Wanda Yancey. KENDRA COOK Kendra Cook is the daughter of Kenneth and Edith Cook of Hinton. She is in the 3rd. gade at Talcott Elementary. She attends River Valley Church. Kendra enjoys sottball, girl scouts. She has two sisters, Alisha and Ashley. Grandparents are Hobert and Dorothy Crook. AMANDA WARD Amanda Ward is the daughter of Susan Adkins. She is in the 3rd. grade. She ran for Snow Queen in 1997. She is a honor student. Amanda likes to cheer. She also won a National-Award in gyrnanstics. She has one sister, Kendra and one brother Gary. MELISSA GILL Melissa Dawn Gill is the daughter of John and Vicki Gill. She is in the 2nd. grade at Hinton Area Elementary. She attends Mt. Jackson Church and goes to Awana. She is a honor student. NOTICE ArUAL QUILT SHOW The 26th Annual Quilt Show sponsored by the Raleigh County Community Educational Outreach Service Clubs (formerly Extension Homemakers) will be held August 27-29, 1999 at the Appalachian Arts and Crafts Festival at the Raleigh County Armory. Seventeen categories have been 'developed for this year. Prize monies and ribbons are awarded to Best of Show, People's Choice, First, Second and Third place winners.
