James L. Davis, 41, of St. Peters-
burg, formerly of the Hinton area
died Thurs. July 5 at Humana Hos-
pital-Sun Bay, after a long illness.
": He was born in Scranton, Pa., and
came here in 1984 from Maryland,

EDWIN S. HAGER
Edwin S. Hager, 80, of 102 Willow
St., died Thurs. July 18, in a Prince-
ton hospital, following along illness.
Born June 28, 1910, at Princeton,
": -~: he was the son of the late Edward C.
!~:~ and Callie Ann Faulkner Hager.
: ~ Mr. Hager was a retired construc-
;:~: tion foreman for Eastern Gas and
Fuel of Kopperston with more than
i i 23 years ofsorvice, was a member of
the New Hope United Methodist
Church, the Princeton Old Guards,
the AF and AM Lodge No. 138 of
Pinev~lle, the Beni Kedem Temple of
Charleston and the Order of the
E~i~ern Star Chapter No. 53 of Prin-
ceton.
He was preceded in death by two
brothers, Howard and Arnold Hager
and two sisters, Lake Hill and Mar-
garet Hutchens.
Survivors include his wife, Envah
Pennington Hager; a son, Samuel E.
Hager of Tazewell, Tenn.; two broth-
ers, Earl Hager of Pipestem and
Kenneth Hager of Clear Fork; seven
sisters, Jessie Martin, Mrs. Roy
(Rebecca) Harmon, both of Prince-
ton, Rae Scott of Alexandria, Va.,
Mrs. Robert (Ruby.) Runions of New
Kent, Vs., Mrs. Robert (Eleanor)
Beach of Roanoke, Vs., Ruth Conklin

She was a retired school teacher,

Sanford, Fla. where she taught in
Seminole County before retiring.
!i Her husband, John Elmer Lowry,
]died in 1980.
i' She is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. Mary Janice Wilson, of San-
ford, Fla,, and Mrs. Betty Carolyn
~ragg of Cincinnati, Oh.; two grand-
.-hildren and three great -grandchil-
dren; two sisters, Mrs. Melba W.
Phillips of Petarstown, W.Va.; and
Mrs. Athleen B. Cox of Altamonte
Springs, Fla.; one brother, Robert L.
Bear of Shawnee, Kan.
Services were held July 18th in
Sanford, Fla.

,~ James R. Sims, 62, died Wed. July
i18, in a Hinton hospital, following a
~ong illness.
Born June 17,1928, at Rock Camp,
he was the son of Millie Harvey Sims
of Rock Camp and the late Paul K.
Sims.
Mr. Sims was employed as a tim-
bermau, was a U.S. Army veteran
and was a lifelong resident of the
Rock Camp area.
He was preceded in death by a
brother, Paul Willard Sims in 1950
and a sister, June Margaret Sims in
1924.
Other survivors include a son,
James Dwight Sims of Sarton; a
daughter, Judith Ann Lewis of
Greerwille, S.C.; two brothers, Mar-
ion Douglas Sims of Pontiac, Mich.,
and Edward D. Sims of Hinton, and
three grandchildren.
Services were held Sat. July 21 at
2 p.m. at the Broyles Funeral Home
Chapel in Petarstown with the Rev.
Ralph Smithson officiating. Burial
followed in the Mount View Ceme-
tery at Wikel.
The body was at the Broyles
Funeral Home in Peterstown.

Governor Caperton had high
praise for all W.Va. fire fighters for
"the courageous and vital services
they provide for the citizens of their
respective communities and coun-
ties.~ The Governor also sai d he was
pleased that his administration had
been able to initiate the new Fire
Fighter License Plate Program being
administered by the Division of
Motor Vehicles where Jane L. Cline
is Commissioner.
Legislation creating the Fire
Fighter License Plate Program was
sponsored by Delegates Sam Love
and William Anderson.
Also other firemen can get a Fire
Fighter License Plate for the cost of
a new plate and $5.00 extra, but
have to send their old plate in to
Motor Vehicles in Charleston, while
they are with a Fire Dept.
