Wedding Anniversary Sid and Irene Humphreys of Hinton, will celebrate their 50th. wedding anniversary on July 17th. from 2-4 p. m. at River Valley Ba!,tist Church Fellowship Hall. No gifts please, just your smiling faces, Kristen Dawn Lilly Lilly Awarded CWV Scholarship Kristen Dawn Lilly has been awarded the College of West Virginia Trustee Scholarship. She is a recent 1999 Honor graduate from Shady Spring High School and is persuing a career in the medical field. Kristen has been involved in several activities including National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Junior Civitan, Prom Committee, and Project Graduation. She also served as a peer tutor in Math and English, and was a Teen Counselor for Shady Spring High School. Her honors and awards include Who's Who Among American High School Students, Certificate of Achievement for Academic "A" Average, Certificate of Honor, and the President's Award for Educational Excellence. She is the daughter of Douglas and Rebecca Lilly of Nimitz. Honaker Family Reunion Planned Descendants of Hans Jacob Honaker, who include many Hinton area residents, particularly the Long family, will have their llth national reunion Aug. 13 and 14 in Honaker, V,. Hans Jacob, a Swiss-German, emigrated to America in 1749 and raised a large family in the Shenandoah Valley. His sons were Revolutionary War soldiers and one is said by Colonial Williamsburg to be one of the first three American riflemakers. Known descendants number more than 24,000 and live throughout the U. S., with concentrations in southwest Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio. All family members are invited to attend the two-day annual reunion events, which include meetings and displays, an historic tour, and banquet. Activities are free except for dinner reservations, which must be prepaid by Aug. 2. The family has published several books on its history. To At t e n d Girls State Four Summers County High School juniors have been selected to participate in the American Legion Auxiliary Rhododendron Girls State, which will be held at Wheeling Jesuit University. Girls State is a Learn by Doing project for carefully chosen young leaders. FIBROMYALGIA Fibromyalgia Support Group meeting will be held Friday, July citizens to participate in it. The American Legion Auxiliary hopes that Rhododendron Girls State will train its citizens to know the duties privileges, rights and responsibilities of citizenship and to have a proper pride in their American heritage. ASCENSION EPISCOPAL CHURCH DONATES BOOKS TO ENERGY EXPRESS The Ascension Episcopal Church of Hinton donated 130 books to Energy Express. Energy Express is a nutritional and reading program being held at Hinton Area Elementary this summer, and children attending will use the donated books. At the end of the program the church will hold a free book fair for the participants of Energy Express. Each child will take home both new and used books. The Ascension Episcopal Church holds a "free books" day three times a year and invites children ofall ages to come by to receive free books. The next "free books" day is scheduled for August 7, 1999, at the Ascension Episcopal Church on the corner of Temple Street and 5th Avenue. HEALTH DEPARTMENT HOLDS HEALTH FAIR Children of the county were delighted with a visit from Po the "Red Tubbie', at the children's health fair held at the Summers County Health Department on May 26th. Free immunizations and TB Skin Test were available for the day.
