IN THE LIBRARY
I am quite sure that everyone has noticed by now that a
gorgeous butterfly has appeared on the Library door and, of
course, everyone knows THAT means we have reached our goal
of $16,000 for 1989-90. (In fact we raised $16,000.36). Just in the
nick of time too since our year ended June 30th and a new one
began July Ist. We will take a"breather" during July and plan to
begin fundraising again for 1990-91 in Aug. We will need, once
again, $16,000 if we want to balance the budget and maintain
services at the current level.
We are also delighted to announce that the Library now has a
FAX machine installed and ready to send copies of things for our
patrons to other FAXes anywhere in the world! The FAX is a gift
from the West Virginia Library Commission purchased with a
special grant ( oh how I wish there were = special~ grants to light
the lights, pay postage, etc .... but there doesn't seem to be =
special" funds available for that kind of thing.)
Although the Library did not expend any of its money on the
purchase ofthe FAX we have had toinstall an extra telephone li ne
dedicated to FAX and computer use. In order to help cover this
extra expense the Library boardhas set up the following fee and
policy schedule.
BY - LAWS FOR FACSIMILE MACHINE (FAX)
1. (a) - SENDING - Minimum $5.00 for the first page. $1.00
each additional page, with special rates available for faxing
outside the continental USA.
(b) - RECEIVING - $1.00 perpage received.
2. The library will not be held responsible for damaged pages.
We suggest if an important document is to be faxed, copy the
document, and fax the copy.
3. The library will not be responsible for notifying patrons of
FAX receipt. It will be the patrons responsibility to contact the
Library.
4. The employees of the Library will be the only ones allowed to
send and receive fax messages.
5. No use of the FAX phone by the public.
Finally, we note with sadness the death of Norman Cole,
husband of Margaret Cole, a long time library patron and good
friend. We wish to thank Mrs. Cole and her family for asking that
donations in memory of Mr. Cole be sent to the Library. Mr. Cole's
name will be inscribed on our Memorial Plaque with tho~ of
others for whom been received.
