Hinton Patrolman Jimmy Wills,
after being off sick for eight days
with a reported sinus infection, re-
turned to work Saturday and less
than 24 hours later he turned in a
letter of resignation, Hinton Chief of
Police John Plumley said yesterday.
"He didn't give any reason for
leaving," Plumley said.
The resignation is effective Sat-
urday, July 21 at 3 pm according to
his letter.
Wills was the first of four City
police officers to retur~ to work after
.calling in sick on the morning of
June 29. Last night Ptlm. Fred
Moody returned to work, and both
Cpl. B. B. Angell and Ptlm. Bruce
McCallister said they "hope" their
doctor will release them later this
week.
Both Wills and Moody have been
off" "with a legitimate sick leave
supported by a doctors excuse,"
Plumley said; although Wills did not
returnto work withaeertificatefrom
his doctor.
"He is going to bring one in later,"
Plumley said. ~-Iis doctor wasn't
working and he couldn't get one
Saturday. When he returned to
work, that evening, I sent him to the
hospital emergency room because
he didn't have a certificate from his
doctor." An examination by the
emergency room physician certified
him healthy enough to return to
work, he said.
Wills could not be reached.
Moody was under the care of a
Rainelle doctor between June 29 and
July ~ording to a certificate from
_ his dbetor stating that he could re-
turn to work on July 6.
Moody could not be reached.
Angell said last night that he has
an ~appointment with his doctor
Thursday morning and "I hope to be
back to work Thursday night." Angell
has been off since June 29 with a
sinus infection. "I feel a lot better
now," he said.
