Scraps of memories stitched to- gether with love make all quilts special. So spedal that they deserve country-wide recognition. The State Fair of West Virignia along with ninet n other state fairs will host a special quilters contest sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens books. Ifyou have a hand- appliqued or patchwork quilt that has been completed by an individual in 1989-90, you may have stitched yourself into a Better Homes and Gardens book blue ribbon and $100.00. One hand-appliqued and one patchwork quilt will be sent to Meredith Corporation for judging at the 1990 Houston Quilt Festival for grand prizes of $500.00. So, get those pieces stitched by machine or hand, and get the thimbles out for the appliquing and quilting. The State Fair of West Virginia has a space for your quilt- ing creation, 42 inches or larger, original design or adaption of a tra- ditional design. But, hurry; entry forms must be received by July 25. All quilts will be on display in the West Virginia Building at the State Fair, Aug. I0-18.
