Students Complete
,,Job Shadowing,,
- Recently students at Summers
Co. High School completed "Job
Shadowing for the 2002-2003 school
years. All of the 10th. grade are
required as part of the Introduction
to Majors class to perform a
minimum of 3 hours of site approved
job shadowing. Local businesses
that have agreed to allow students
to job shadow and have been
approved by the program
coordinator provide an invaluable
workplace experience for the
students.
Students are prepared for job
shadowing during several in school
sessions on safety and proper
workplace practices. The student
must make arrangements four the
day of job shadowing and follow up
with a thank you letter to the
employer, and return documentation
to the coordinator on completion.
This year over 90% of eligible
students completed job shadowing.
A minumum of 3 hours of work-
based learning is required to
graduate.

coordinator wishes to thank all
businesses and employers for their
cooperation in providing placements
and giving the time to the students
in this important learning
experience.

NEW RIVER PARKWAY
AUTHORITY
The monthly meeting of the New
River Parkway Authority, will be
held at the Comfort Inn on Harper
Road, Beckley, WV., on July 7th., at
7:00 p.m.
COUNTY COMMISSION
MEETINGS
The Summers County
Commission will meet bi-weekly on
Mondays at 9:00 a.m. in the County
Courthouse. In case of Monday being
a holiday, the meeting will be moved
to the following Tuesday. Meetings
for July are as follows:
Monday, July 7th.
Monday, July 21st.

LAUREL CK. BIBLE SCHOOL
Vacation Bible School will be held
at the Laurel Creek Baptist Church
on the Ramp Road, Sandstone, July
7 - 11 from 6 to 8 pm. Everyone

AARP 55 ALIVE
A SAFE DRIVING program is
sponored by the AARP, co-sponsored
by the Summers County Council on
Aging, Inc., Hinton, WV. This
program is a class room refresher
course for licensed drivers 55 and
older. This is a two day class, four
hours each day. No driving is
involved and NO tests are given.
This class will be taught by one of
AARP's volunteer instructors.
Those taking the class may be
eligible for a discount on their
automobile insurance premiums.
Class is scheduled for July 22nd.,
and 23rd. Time: 10:00 A.M. - 2:00
P.M. each day at the Hinton Senior
Center. Cost: $10.00. Please call
Rose Moten at 466-4019 to register
for the class.

septic systems, a valid permit must
be obtained from the health
department.
A certified installer licensed by
the State of West Virginia must be
used to do all work relating to the
