GOP-Led Congress Achieves Historic Regulatory
Reform of Broken Environmental Law
U.S. Senator Shelley Moore

her colleagues to write an op-ed in
the Washington Examiner today

stakeholders.
"As a result, the Lautenberg
Act will require that the EPA's
regulatory decisions be based on the
best available science and require
the agency to show their work to
the public and Congress.
"No longer can chemical
regulations that are the result of
cherry-picked data justifying a
politically motivated regulatory
outcome be forced on job creators at
the state or federal level.
Instead, the EPA will need to
justify its decisions by a substantial
evidence standard and by using
transparent scientific information
while also taking into account
costs when proposing any potential
regulation.
"We also looked to the
Constitution for guidance to
address the unworkable and
insufficiently protective regulatory
patchwork under the current law.
Because current law has resulted
in only a very limited preemption
of chemical regulations, it has

"Regulatory reform has been
a widely discussed solution in
Washington to cut bureaucratic
red tape and boost our economy.
In a Republican-led Congress, we
achieved it.
"After years of hard work and
negotiations, the passage of the
Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical

- marks the first time in more
than a quarter of a century that
Congress has sent reform of a
major environmental law to the

'(NAPS)--While dry mouth is a
common condition that may result
from a variety of factors such as
smoking, aging, medication, dis-
ease, dehydration, and emotional
stress, you don't have to put up
with it.
The Problem

overall dryness sensation in the
mouth, lips, throat, eyes and skin.

saliva and sensitivity to spicy
foods can also occur.
Treatments
Typically, the most common
self-help strategies for dry mouth
that are thought to be helpful are
lip coating with Vaseline or balms,
eliminating caffeine and alcohol i
consumption, humidifying the
bedroom, and adding water to
food. However, there's no scientific
support of the effectiveness of
these strategies.
A recent independent study
revealed that the oral adhering
discs, patches and melts are rated
by dentists as the most effective
treatment for dry mouth.
In fact, OraCoat XyliMelts• oral
adhering discs were rated as more
effective than any other dry mouth
remedy, including prescription
drugs, by an independent study of
1,168 dentists, and are the only
product that has been assessed in
clinical studies for treatment of
dry mouth during sleep.
Where To Go
The discs are available at CVS
and Rite Aid pharmacies and at

also learn more about them. Mint-

can benefit students for the rest of their lives. Introducing and practicingI
writing with engaging activities in elementary school, can foster
confidence and a lifelong love of writing. Immediately, writing skills are
important for elementary students' continued learning in all academic
areas, communication and self-expression but can additionally improve
penmanship. Writing exercises in elementary school support
development of critical thinking and problemsolving skills. Students
also learn the writing process, from outline to finished product, which
translates, into other aspects of life and learning. Pictured left to right:

much progress. "Power is on to
