Mr. David Meador of Hopewell, West Vir- ginia and Mr. James Meador brothers of the groom, and Mr. David Madison of Hinton, West Virginia served as ushers. The flowergirl was Miss Julie Rutherford, niece of the bride. She wore a formal gown of beige and blue accented with lacing. She carried a basket of spring flower petals. Master Stevie Saunders served as rings bearer. He carried the golden rings on white satin and lace pillow and was attired in white and yellow formal attire. Organ selections contempor- ay and traditional.was perfor- med by Mr. Billy Elliot of Bluefield, West Virginia. He led the congregation in chorus with "We Gather Together" prior to the •entrance of the bride and at the conculsion of the ceremony, Mr. Elliott accompanied him- self and sang The Lords Pray- er. He also entertained the guests and bridal party with music selections at the recept- ion. The reception followed in the fellowship hall of the church. After the traditional cutting of the cake by the bride and groom a receiving line was formed and guests were introduced to the bridal party by Mrs. Don Rag- an. Lace overlain tables with sil- ver appointments compliment- ed the three tiered wedding cake accented with white satin wedding bells, with colors of silver and white and fresh spring flowers. Serving at the reception tab- les were Mrs. Lueille Brown, Mrs.. Linda H. Rutherford and Mrs. Brenda Lafone. The bridesbook was attended by Mrs. Diane Leedy. The table was graced with the bridal bouquet. Mrs. Flo Earnest attended Mrs. Rutherford, Mother of the bride, who is a resident of Bluefield Multicare center. A sincere thanks is extended to Mr. Nile Cutlip Administrator who provided ambulance ser- vice with attendants for her. Peters, Pack Honored The honor of claiming the award as the first representa- tives of Summers County to ever attend a national A.A.A. Award Tour , went to J.W Peters and Kent Pack, students and patrol boys at Jumping Branch School. Both boys are sixth grade students of Ira Patrick, teacher and Gary Irwin, principal. Mr. Irwin stated that he had hoped for this honor for many years, and these students were the most qualified. The studen ts were chosen by Mr. Holl- ister,President of National A.A.A.. The criteria of the award was leadership and dep- endability as Patrol Boys and scholarship in school For their award the boys received an all-expense paid tour of Gettysburg,Pa. 'which was held May 11-13. Citations Will Be Issued Top A. W. Maddyof tht Hinton Detachment of the West are be d - the victr of the Pence,Spring Flea Mar- ket. Although the signs are approxi- mately 18 inches square, Maddy said many people claim they did not see the signs. The other, excuse, according to Maddy, is "Everyone else is doing it." The trooper said no citations were issued for the first three weeks the _mket was opened in an attempt to give the 'public become used to the new signs and comply. However, tht situation has remained very hazardous and on May 6 some, eighteen citations were issued. Maddy said the fine is about twenty dollars. There are two large parking, lots across the road from the market and one of those is free, ', so Maddy said there was no excuse for the illegal parking. Seven Rescued About 2 P.M. Maddy requested a State Police helicopter from Charleston. The copter spotted the group and landed nearby. Finding everyone tired and hungry, but otherwise alright the copter brought in food and Maddy contacted the Depart- ment of Highways who had a crew working nearby to repair some of the flood damage in the same area. The DOH dispatch- ed an endloader to ford the stream which Maddy said was still about three feet deep where the road had been. The endload- er pulled the group's four-wheel drive vehicle through the stream and they were able to return home. Maddy said that if they had known the country they might have been able to walk out, but that staying together with their vehicle was probably the best decision. The group of 81 West Virgin- ians departed by bus from Princeton. Counselors were Mr. Frank Clator and MS. Marie Akers. Cpl. J!A. Harsh was the State Police Escort.
