Field Day Winners Announced . Hold Meeting

Billy Richmond of Jumplng Branch was the First Place winner of
the Group II obstacle cour._s.e.
The standing long jump was won by Lisa Brown of Greenbrier
followed by Gwen Counts of Sandstone and Anita Meador of
Pipestem.
The Group I Frisbee throw was won by Danita Richmond of
Sandstone, 2nd place went to Mary K. Bennett of Jumping Branch
with 3rd going to Patty Carr of Pence Springs. Also shown are Joe
Kessler, Bill Fox and Bill Hughes who are checking scores.
Group II Sack Race was won by Francis Gill of Bellepoint; Mike
llarvey of Pence Springs finished 2nd. and Rhonda Kessler of
Ferest llill was 3rd.
Group II participants competing in the softball throw which was
administered by Steve Jones and Dallas Mann
Standing long jump events being administered by Kit Durnan,
Gary Irwin and Mike Allen.

Forest Festival
The Mountain State Forest
Festival, held each fall in Elk-
ins, West Virginia is a week-
long extravaganza that annual-
ly draws over 100,000 people into
the picturesque mountain com-
munity. Festival week is a
kaliedescope of unique, exciting
, spectacular activities that cen-
ter around a woodland theme.
This year the 43rd annual
Mountain State Forest Festival
will get under way with a new
major event. Plans are curren-
tly being made to open the
Festival with a 10 Kilometer
Distance Run. The race is sch-
eduled for Sunday, September
30 at 2:00 p.m. in Elkins. It will
be the first of a series of
traditional festival activities.
The Mountain State Forest Fes-
tival committee and the Elkins
Parks and Recreation Commi-
ssion are jointly sponsoring the
event. The race wilt be open to
male and female runners of all
