faith " O ye of little faith" ( Matt. 8: 26). Still others have
great faith -" I have not found so great faith, no not in Israel (
Matt. 8:10). Many possess a weak faith - " Him that is weak
in the faith" ( Ram. 14: 1). Yet many have a dead faith - "
Faith apart from works is dead" ( James 2:26). it is the
responsibility of man to believe with all his heart. However,
to do this is more than to give intellectual assent to the
truth fuiness of a proposition. ,. The heart includes the
intellect, the emotions, and the will. With the heart we think (
Matt. 9:4), reason ( Mk. 2:6), understand ( Isa. 32:4), these
processes are purely intellectual. With the heart we sorrow (
Neh. 2:2), despise ( 2 Sam. 6:16). and love ( Matt. 22:37).
These are emotional processes. With the heart we pur-
pose ( 2 Car. 9:7). This is a determining process. To believe
with all the heart involves all of these. But how and when
does faith save sinners? All should agree when it leads one to
obey the gospel ( Ram. 10:16 - 17). Salvation is not hy faith
only ( James 2:24; G al. 5:6). By faith Noah.. prepared an
ark". ( Heb. 11:7). " By faith Abraham obeyed.. " ( Reb.
11:8). Salvation is obtained when faith leads those who are
accountable to repent and be baptized ( Acts 2:36 - 38).
Baptism is an act of faith in Christ ( Acts 8: 36-37; Col. 2:12).
which relates to the death of Christ ( Ram. 6: 3-4). Baptism is
for the remission of sins ( Acts 2:38; Mk. 16: 16). The
Christian way of life is a life of faith. Christians cannot please
G o.~lwithout faith ( Hob. 11: 6; Mk. 4:40; 5:36). The just shall
live by faith." ( Ram. 1 : 17; Hob. 10:38 - 39). We walk by faith
und not by sight ( 2 Car. 5: 7 ). We overcome the world by faith
( 1 John 5:4). We win G od's approval by faith ( Heb. 11: 39).
Faith must involve the will and control our lives, If one
believes with all his heart, he will duplicate the very
experience of the Pentecostians as records in Acts 2:41 by
being buried with Christ in baptism to walk in new-
hesS of life. Let us rest assured that the Lord is our friend in
that we must live and accept Him by faith.
