Named as Summers County winners in the talent and visual category are: Jason Parmer - piano solo, junior; Michelle Talbott - piano solo, senior; Melinda Gwinn - vocal solo, junior; Pipestem Indians - vocal group, junior; Neriua Young - vocal solo, senior; Kelly Cough•hour - dance solo, junior; Jennifer" Arretta Mills-health. Gwinn - baton solo, junior; Susan Coughenhour, Amy (}aye, Anne Gill, Becky Parker, Edith Ward - dramatic and novelty group, junior; Nancy Jarrell - dramatic and novelty solo, senior; Susie Jarrell and Tami McCarty - dance solo, senior and baton solo, senior; Rusty Hannah and Lori Sears - general group, senior; Victor l.~ag - dramatic and novelty solo, junior; Carol Binion and James D. Ward - photography; Virginia Lee Hatcher - foods; Billy Brown Burke, former member of the House of Dele- gates and Democratic Cand- idate for Secretary of State, brought his campaign to SUMMERS County making stops in several places~ "I enjoy this opportunity to talk personally with the voters in SUMMERS County, Burke commented, in an interview here Wednesday. " I need their support and meeting with them has made me feel confident that I will do well here." Burke said he regrets that he could not see everyone on his visit and said he looked for- ward to the opportunity to serve the people in the State of West Virginia as Secretary of State. Burke said he wants to" forge a link" between the people and the " complex, sophisticated government" in Charleston in order to " help our citizens, like government should." Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. 8 - Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. 9 - Make direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. 10 Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly ad- mitted it. II -Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. 12 - Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of thes~ steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principales in all our affairs.
