April 26, 2016 w-rslvvn"_ Mr. and Mrs. "Pete" Cook Pastor Cook Retiring From Freedom Baptist Church 'Pastor George "Pete" Cook and the congregation of Freedom Baptist Church of Powley Creek Road, Hinton, WV, would like to announce they have called for a Pastor to take over the church. Pastor Cook and his wife Novella love the Lord. They have dedicated their lives to leading others to Jesus Christ. Pastor Cook through his years of ministry served 10 1/2 at Sandstone Baptist Church. He then furthered his ministry for the last 26 years at Freedom Baptist Church. Now for health reasons Pastor Cook has had to step down as Pastor. Pastor Cook is a man of God, who stands strongly on the Word of God. C. P. Hia wrote: "A Christian life is the window through which others can see Jesus." The Church family and others who have had the privilege to set under his ministry would like to take this time to thank Pastor Cook and his wife Novella for living a life through which others could see Jesus. We thank you, Pastor Cook for your preaching of the saving power of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We appreciate you always sharing words of encouragement through the years from God's Word. Those words will forever be in our hearts. The church family has truly been blessed and will continue to be *** blessed to have Pastor Cook and Novella as part of our church family. May God continue to strengthen them with his grace and bless them in all that they do. To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven (Ecclesiastes 321-13). We are thankful, to have had Pastor "Pete" Cook as our Pastor. Pastor John Offenberger from Peterstown, WV became pastor on February 21, 2016. Pastor Offenberger graduated from Tennessee Temple University in 1980 with a Degree in Theology. In 1981, he graduated with a Bachelor of Bible. He also served as Assistant Pastor at Battle Creek Baptist Church in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee and at Grace Gospel Church in Ripley, WV. Then in 1983, he was called to Cashmere Baptist Church in Ballard, WV as lead pastor. Pastor Offenberger and his wife Cindy served at Cashmere for 31 years and saw God do great and mighty works. , If you don't have a home church, Pastor Offenberger and his wife Cindy along with the congregation at Freedom Baptist Church invite you to come and worship with us. She retired on April 15, 2016, and we will miss her greatly! ‘ Clean Power Plan Feasibility Study Submitted to Legislature CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP)hassubmittedafeasibility study to the state Legislature related to the US. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan for Existing Power Plants. To read the Feasibility Report, and an accompanying analysis by the Marshall University Center for Business and Economic Research. The study was mandated by House Bill 2004, which passed the Legislature in 2015. It looked at the feasibility of developing a state plan for the regulation of emissions of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, in order to comply with the requirements in the US. EPA’s rule, which was stayed by the US. Supreme Court in February pending the outcome of a legal challenge led by West Virginia’s attorney general. The study, submitted yesterday afternoon,requiredacomprehensive analysis of the potential effects the rule — which is 111(d) of the Clean Air Act on the state, its people and its economy. The WVDEP will not develop a state plan to comply with the 111(d) Rule unless the stay of the Clean Power Plan is lifted. If a state plan is developed, the agency would be charged with drafting such a plan and submitting it to the Legislature for approval before submitting it to the US. EPA. To conduct the analysis the Legislature required, the WVDEP (1.) solicited information from the owners of the state’s electric generating units; (2.) hired Marshall University’s Center for Business and Economic Research, which subcontracted with Energy Ventures Analysts Inc. of Arlington, Virginia, for economic and market analysis of the impact of the 111(d) Rule; (3.) identified paraes from business, labor, environmental and public interest groups and governmental agencies with potentially useful information concerning this assessment and solicited their input; (4.) notified the public of the feasibility assessment and comprehensive analysis and accepted and reviewed comments; and (5.) conducted independent research on topics related to the assessment and analysis.
