Pastor Cook
Retiring From
Freedom Baptist
Church
'Pastor George "Pete" Cook and
the congregation of Freedom Baptist
Church of Powley Creek Road,
Hinton, WV, would like to announce
they have called for a Pastor to take
over the church.
Pastor Cook and his wife Novella
love the Lord. They have dedicated
their lives to leading others to Jesus
Christ. Pastor Cook through his
years of ministry served 10 1/2 at
Sandstone Baptist Church. He then
furthered his ministry for the last
26 years at Freedom Baptist
Church.
Now for health reasons Pastor
Cook has had to step down as Pastor.
Pastor Cook is a man of God, who
stands strongly on the Word of God.
C. P. Hia wrote: "A Christian life is
the window through which others
can see Jesus." The Church family
and others who have had the
privilege to set under his ministry
would like to take this time to thank
Pastor Cook and his wife Novella for
living a life through which others
could see Jesus. We thank you,
Pastor Cook for your preaching of
the saving power of the Gospel of the
Lord Jesus Christ. We appreciate
you always sharing words of
encouragement through the years
from God's Word. Those words will
forever be in our hearts.
The church family has truly been
blessed and will continue to be
***
blessed to have Pastor Cook and
Novella as part of our church family.
May God continue to strengthen
them with his grace and bless them
in all that they do. To everything
there is a season, a time for every
purpose under heaven (Ecclesiastes
321-13). We are thankful, to have had
Pastor "Pete" Cook as our Pastor.
Pastor John Offenberger from
Peterstown, WV became pastor on
February 21, 2016. Pastor
Offenberger graduated from
Tennessee Temple University in
1980 with a Degree in Theology. In
1981, he graduated with a Bachelor
of Bible. He also served as Assistant
Pastor at Battle Creek Baptist
Church in South Pittsburgh,
Tennessee and at Grace Gospel
Church in Ripley, WV. Then in 1983,
he was called to Cashmere Baptist
Church in Ballard, WV as lead
pastor. Pastor Offenberger and his
wife Cindy served at Cashmere for
31 years and saw God do great and
mighty works.
, If you don't have a home church,
Pastor Offenberger and his wife
Cindy along with the congregation
at Freedom Baptist Church invite
you to come and worship with us.
And watch God continue to do great
and mighty works. Come join us:
Sunday school is at 10 a.m., morning
worship hour at 11:00am.
As a child, my family’s menu consisted of two choices: Take it or
leave it.

Clean Power Plan Feasibility Study
Submitted to Legislature
CHARLESTON, W.Va. —
The West Virginia Department
of Environmental Protection
(WVDEP)hassubmittedafeasibility
study to the state Legislature
related to the US. Environmental
Protection Agency’s Clean Power
Plan for Existing Power Plants. To
read the Feasibility Report, and
an accompanying analysis by the
Marshall University Center for
Business and Economic Research.
The study was mandated by
House Bill 2004, which passed the
Legislature in 2015.
It looked at the feasibility of
developing a state plan for the
regulation of emissions of carbon
dioxide, a greenhouse gas, in order
to comply with the requirements
in the US. EPA’s rule, which was
stayed by the US. Supreme Court
in February pending the outcome
of a legal challenge led by West
Virginia’s attorney general.
The study, submitted yesterday
afternoon,requiredacomprehensive
analysis of the potential effects the
rule — which is 111(d) of the Clean
Air Act on the state, its people
and its economy.
The WVDEP will not develop
a state plan to comply with the
111(d) Rule unless the stay of the
Clean Power Plan is lifted.
If a state plan is developed,
the agency would be charged
with drafting such a plan and
submitting it to the Legislature for
approval before submitting it to the
US. EPA.
To conduct the analysis the
Legislature required, the WVDEP
(1.) solicited information from
the owners of the state’s electric
generating units;
(2.) hired Marshall University’s
Center for Business and Economic
Research, which subcontracted
with Energy Ventures Analysts Inc.
of Arlington, Virginia, for economic
and market analysis of the impact
of the 111(d) Rule;
(3.) identified paraes from
business, labor, environmental
and public interest groups and
governmental agencies with
potentially useful information
concerning this assessment and
solicited their input;
(4.) notified the public of
the feasibility assessment and
comprehensive analysis and
accepted and reviewed comments;
and
(5.) conducted independent
research on topics related to the
assessment and analysis.
