senior physician assistant at
the USAF Regional Hospital at
Fort Worth, Texas, was com-
missioned a captain Tuesday in
cet-enmnies conducted by Col.
James G. Sanders, USAF Reg-
ional Hospital Commander.
The new captain was the first
physician assistant to be comm-
issioned there and the second
physician assistant commiss-
ioned in the Air Force.
According to Colonel Sand-
ers, "Captain Gwinn's com-
mission is an honor richly de-
served and well earned by an
outstanding individual. His eff-
orts and endeavors during the
past 20 years• have been dir-
ected at providing superior pat-
ieilt care."
During 1977 Captain Gwinn
wa:; one of three Air Force
physican assistants to be nom-
inated as Physician Assistant to
the White House Physician. In
November 1977, Gwinn was
named as an Assistant to the
Consultant in Primary Care and
Advisor for Physician Extender
in the Office of the Air Force
Surg)n General Staff. He has
ah'eady assumed these respon-
sibilities and will be leaving for
the Surgeon General Office in
the near future.
l)uring 1975, Gwinn was sel-
ected by the Department of
Defense Matager for Manned
Space Vlight at Kennedy Space
Cenler for the Appollo- Soyuz
Joint Space Mission by the U.S.
and the Soviet Union. He ser-
ved on the Astronaut Rescue
Team at the center's launch
pad. Prior to this he served on
the Astronaut Rescue Team for
Gemini 4- 12 launches.
Although the captain has a
bachelor of science degree from
the University of Nebraska, he
is presently working towards a
lateral bachelor of science de-
gree in Health Science Admin-
istratin at East Texas State
University.
tie is a member of the Texas
Academy of Physician Assist-
ants and occupies a seat on its
board of directors. He is also a
member of the American Acad-
eiay of Physician Assistants,
the Ridglea Masion Blue Ix)dge
Number 1341. a charter mem-
ber of the Fort Worth Scottish
trite Bodies and a member of
the Moslah Shriners Temple.

in 1973.

Gwinn, many friends and hos
pital staff members.
He is the son of Mrs. George
Marie) Gwinn and the late M
Gwinn of Peterstown, W. Va.
Peterstown Woman's Club Hold
Meeting
The Home Life Department
were program leaders and host-
esses for the April meeting of
the Peterstown Woman's Club,
when they met for the regular
meeting in the fellowship hall of
the Peterstown Baptist Church,
with the president, Mrs. Her-
bert McDonald calling the
meeting to order and presiding.
The Pledge to The Flag was led
by Mrs. Hazel Jervis.
Mrs. Harvey Gentry, chair-
man of the Home Life Depart-
ment, presented Mrs. Gordon
Miller, who gave the devotions
on theme, "This Is Home",
using scriptures from Psalms,
closing with a poem "Home". A
beautiful song, "God Give Us
Christian Homes", was sung by
Mrs. Clifton Dunn, Mrs. C.L.
Spangler, and Mrs. Robert
Perry accompanied by Mrs.
Carmel Francis at the piano.
Mrs. Gentry, presented and
introduced the speaker for the
evening, Ms. Margaret Amos,
Giles County Home Ext. Agent.
She presented a very interest-
ing talk, on Communizing, and
showed slides on "BrandWash
", she gave pointers pertaining
to the buying of foods, and
clothing, At the close of her talk,
Mrs. Gentry presented her with
a hanging basket filled with a
beautiful growing vine.
The song "An Old Fashioned
Garden", was sung by the
quartet, at the close of the
program.
During the business the min-
utes of the last meeting were
read by Mrs. Mason Chinault,
secretary, with the treasurer
report" given by Mrs. Betty
Claytor, treasurer.
Mrs. McDonald, gave a re-
port of the Executive Board
meeting.
