The Summers County Career
Center Future Business Lead=
ers of America chapter re-
cently participated in the
FBLA Southern Sectional CoB-
'terence held at Concord Coll-
ege on March 3rd. Sixteen
members of the Summers Co-
unty Career Center Chapter
participated.
Ben Gains of the Raleigh Vo -
Tech Chapter presided over the
• conference which involved 325
students from sixteen southern
West Virginia Counties.
Mark Webb, son of Mr. and
i. Mrs. Harry Webb and a Junior
in the SCCC Clerical program,
was elected president of the
Southern Section of FBLA in
chapters.
Mark will be installed into
office at the West Virginia State
Future Business Leaders of
America Conference at Mar-
shall University on April 14. He
will represent the state of West
Virginia FBLA Chapter at the
National FBLA Conference
which will be held in Atlanta,
Ga. in July.
There were various compet-
itions throughout the morning at
the Southern FBLA conference,
and Shelia Ward, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Silas D. Ward of
Hix, received second place in
the Data Processing Contest.
Shelia will compete on the State

"Living Water from Christ
Our Hope" was the theme for
the 1984 World Day of Prayer
held Friday, March 2, at "/p.m.,
at the Ascension Episcopal Ch-
urch in Hinton. This year's
service was prepared by
Christian women of Sweden.
The Rev. H. R. Wiseman,
host pastor, welcomed the con-
gregation and opened the ser-
vice with prayer. Nancy N.
Richmond was the organist.
Other participants from local
churches were Edith Goode,
Anna Mac McNeer, Frances
Lively, Frances Davis, Doris
Cobb, Connie Newton, Pat Mill-
er, Ann McNeer, Marcella Bak-
er, Myra Ziegler, Nancy Dur-
nan, and Karen Craig.
Approximately 60 people
were in attendance and the free
- will offering was $65. The
offering, remitted to Church
Women United, will be used in
part through grants to help
provide women in developing
countries with a clean, con-
venient source of water. Other
grants encourage self - help in
social and economic develop-
Bent, and provide resources to
address issues of hunger, hea-
lth, housing, education, justice
and peace.
Refreshments were served in
the McNeer room of the Church
following the service.
Afterwards a brief business
session was held with 12 women
attending. First Baptist Church
of HInton extended the invit-
ation to host the 1985 service.
Officers for 1985 were elected
as follows: Doris Cobb, chair-
man; Pat Miller, secretary;
Anna Mae McNeer, treasurer;
C.gnnie Newton, publicity chair-
bman.
