PALM SUNDAY WALK
There is a tradition in Hinton,
that every Palm Sunday, the
downtown churches come together
for a walk. It starts at 10 a.m. on
Sunday, March 20th, at the corner
between the First Presbyterian
Church and the First United
Methodist Church at the corner of
Ballengee and Third Ave.
The walk remembers Jesus’s
entrance to Jerusalem just before
the Passover celebration was to
begin. He rode a donkey that had
never been ridden and the people
surrounded him, throwing their
cloaks in His path. They spread
branches out before Him and
shouted their praise.
We remember that day when we
walk thru the streets of Hinton with
the donkey, waving our Palm
branches, singing and shouting our
praise_to God. At the end of the walk,
we gather at the park at the corner
of Temple and Third for a short
message and a song. In case of rain,
we will congregate across the street
in the Ethnehouse. Afterwards,
there’s plenty of time to get to your
own church for the 11:00 services.
It’s a good time for us to
remember our common history and
come together as one. You are
welcome to join us, either at the start
of the walk, or as we wind our way
thru town. We will pass by the
Memorial Building, Central Baptist
Church, the post oflice, St. Patrick’s
Catholic Church. We’ll share our
psalms! :
SCDSC MEETING

"REACHH-CAC is also vital to
Summers County. The agency
provides tremendous support to
my office in my position as
Assistant Prosecutor, by providing
forensic medical examinations
and interviews for the prosecution
of child sexual and physical abuse
cases.
Without the CAC's help, our
abused and victimized children
would be lost, both in the criminal
justice system and our commuhity.
The CAC provides all services
necessary to assist our kids in
overcoming their tragedies from
medical care, to therapy, to
advocacy in the prosecution of
their perpetrator." Candidate Cook
stated "I am sothankful that l have
been able to give back to the fire
department and REACHH-CAC.
I always have been a loyal
supporter to our local agencies,
and hope to continue to do so for
years to come.
Participating in this election
literally gives me a reason for
doing something to give back to
you folks and this great
community." The Forest Hill
Volunteer Fire Department and
REACHH-CAC were each
presented with checks totaling
$320.31 each from the dinner that
raised $640.62.
