To say we have been busy would be an understatement. " Every chairman of every committee has been holding meetings late into the night to ,complete their agendas before "crossover" day next week. "Crossover" day is the last day that either house can send bills to the • other house for consideration. Bills processed after that day will die. We passed several bills out that move money (appropriations) around within our budget to meet either current needs or needs in the next budget year. We also passed a bill out to the senate that will allow folks to share interest in milk producing animals for their own consumption. This bill would not allow the sale of raw milk but would simply let a few folks own interest in a cow or other milk producing animal and share that milk between them. Other states already do this. The biggest concern with this measure was the health of the herd. The Commissioner of Agriculture will be responsible to write the rules and ensuring the safety of herds being shared.
