brated her first Birthday re-
cently at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rex
Marcum of True. She enjoyed
her cake baked by her mother
which was decorated in colors
of chocolate, yellow and red.

The Region I Planning and
Development Council Area Ag-
ency on Aging has annotmced
the approval of a grant from
the West Virginia Depart-
ment of Human Services and
the West Virginia Commission
on Aging to provide para - legal
aide and nursing home ombuds
services to older adults in the
counties of Mercer, McDowell,
Monroe, Raleigh, Summers
and Wyoming.
The purpose of this program
is to provide para legal aide to
persons age 60 and over and
also to investigate nursing
home complaints to determine
if federal or state laws are
being violated and to try and
'resolve such complaints
locally. Two field staff will be
• assigned to visit each of the
senior centers, nursing homes
and licensed personal care.

A Then Planned
A full array of activities are
• being planned to make for a
lively Rock a then event at the
Hasten Senior Center on Sat-
urday~, March 10th. The Rock a
then ='.~1 begin ~-t 10:00 a.m.
and is sponsored by Volunt-
.••ring is Never Ending Ser-
vices, Vines Inc., the Summ-
ers County volunteer organiz-
ation which is housed in the
Senior Center. Persons who
would like to rock in the Rock a
then can pick up their sponsor
sheets at the VINES office or
Hinton Senior Center. Those
who don't wish to rock are
urged to come by to watch,
out the day will include an on -
going auction and a covered
dish dinner at noon. There will
be live music and refresh-
ments, also baked goods for
sale throughout the day. Pri-
zes will be awarded for the
oldest rocker and the longest
rocker. Door prize drawing will
also be held. Everyone is wel-
come to come join in the event
regardless of age.
Donations of baked goods and
items suitable for auction will
be greatly appreciated. Please

something to donate•
