LADY BOBCATS IN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP "The Lady Bobcats Need Your Support" The Summers County Lady Bobcats defeated Liberty 69-45 on Feb. 22nd. and Shady Spring on Feb. 24th. to capture the Region VI Section II championship. The Lady Bobcats are currently 16-7 and ranked 6th. in the state in class "AA'. Summers County's 7th grade team won the Championship on Saturday, Feb. 20, defeating Peterstown in the championship game Jayme is the daughter of Bret & Janet Whitten of Jumping Branch and has one brother, Chase. Jumping Branch/Nimitz CEOS Holds Meeting Have you or someone you know had a drug interaction? Do you know of any specific drug interactions? These questions and more were answered by lesson leader Pauline Harvey as she taught "Drug Interactions" at the JB/ Nimitz Senior Citizen Center recently. The average older person takes four or five drugs daily. This increases their risk, of a drug interaction by 50%. If they take eight drugs daily, the risk is almost 100%. Mrs. Harvey explained how drugs travel through the body, risk factors for interaction, and a partial list of prescription and over the counter drugs that increase or decrease blood levels of other drugs. Get in Shape with Aerobics Shelly M. Newton, a student from Pipestem, was named to the Dean's List at Wheeling Jesuit University during the 1998 Fall Semester. The;un 00oast exercise for 45 fun-filled minutes to popular tunes from the 1950s and high energy dance music! Everyone is invited to participate. The beginner's class begins at 4:00 p. m. President Erma Meadows announced that the birthday party for Summers County Continuous Care residents has been postponed until further notice. The care facility is now under quarantine. CEO member, Ethel Cox donated the material, batting, and lining for the quilt that is being quilted for donation to the Ruritan Club of Summers County. The quilt will raise money for the Children's Christmas Fund. Our club also helped with a Heritage ,Show and Dinner at the Blueatg_ q. Baptist. Church on February 28. Member Lou Pack was the chairperson for the Heritage Show. Members were asked to bring something old (quilts, utensils, etc.) for the heritage display tables. On February 24, Erma Meadows, Pauline Harvey and Donna Baker attended a Futures Meeting at Jacksons Mill. This meeting addressed issues that will help determine the course our organization will take in the future. Members voted unanimously to change our club meeting time to 1:00. The March 9th meeting will be at the home of Ethel Cox. Following the meeting, members continued work on the quilt and had a pot luck lunch.
