Mark Farley to the Northeast Regional Facilities Purchasing Dept. as an Advanced Purchasing Agent. Both are on hand to admire the club's new organizational sign posted on the "Welcome to Hinton" sign located at the intersection between the Greenbrier and New River bridges• The sign, created and painted by Sharon Meadows, depicts the club Nike and other symbols of the BPW federation. The placement of the sign was a project of the 1998-99 Public Relations Committee, Barbara Parmer, Donna Conway, Lou Ann Bennett, and Vera Epling. BPW membership is open to all women. Last Call For A County Teen Representative A last call is going out for a teen miss to represent the local county in the upcoming Miss Teenworld - West Virginia Pageant to be held at the Charleston Civic Center, March 6th. To date a representative has not been selected to represent the local county• We are seeking a teen miss between the ages of 13 and 18 that has a genuine desire and the charisma to take a visual role in the local county and to serve as the county representative at tbe state finals. Her participation in the pageant will afford her the platform of acting locally and networking globally to express the pageant's 1999 theme, "Be Free, Happy and Illuminating. " The accepted county representative will receive an Austrian rhinestone crown, a Miss Teenworld royalty sash with the county title, a certificate-of-title, a membership trophy desk set, a remembrance book to record the events of her one year reign, and the official black & gold, stars and stripes pageant costume. The newly crowned Miss Teenworld - WV will receive a $1000 cash scholarship, a correspondence course from Models International and will go on to the NY nationals. Applications may be obtained by calling our 24-hour application line at 1-800-459-3334. Secret Business Partners Program Needs Summers Middle School, Hinton Business and Professional Women's Club, and the 411 Family Resource Center will team up again this year to sponsor a student mentoring program. Last year mentors were provided for 121 seventh grade students as part of the School to Work initiative. This year the program will expand to sixth graders if 210 community participants can be recruited. The program is designed to meet two of the goals of the America's Promise project: marketable and career skills through effective education and on-going relationships with caring adults• Sixth and seventh graders are participating in business adventures in their language arts classes. Good grades and attendance earn them revenue for their businesses. They m learn about topics such as I productivity, mentoring, effective | marketing, the stock market, and employee management. Students and mentors will correspond every two weeks by mail March through May. The last day of the program will be Friday, May 28 You! when students and secret business partners will be introduced. A reception will be hosted for the participants following the introduction ceremony. Interest letters will be mailed to local businesses, clubs, churches, schools and those expressing interest from last year. Each business partner will receive a letter and profile of their student during the first week of March. The responses will be due back to students by March 12. This pattern will be followed through the last three months of school to assure that all students receive equal numbers of correspondence. Local Student Named To "A" Honor Roll At Georgetown College Garrett Stover, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Stover of Hinton, has been named to the "A" Honor Roll at Georgetown College for the 1998 fall semester, announced Academic Dean Dr. Keon Chi. Students named to the "A" Honor Roll must earn 12 semester hours and have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher• Located 12 miles from Lexington, Ky., in the heart of the Bluegrass, Georgetown College is a four-year, private liberal arts institution affiliated with the Kentucky Baptist Convention. The college has been named by U. S. News & World Report as one of the top 159 national liberal arts colleges. Founded in 1829, the college is dedicated to its role as an innovative community of Named to Dean's List  Summers High graduate Darla Evanosky, daughter of Paul and Robin Evanosky of Hinton, has been named to the Dean's List at Berea College for the fall term. To be eligible, a student must maintain a 3.0 average and earn grades of B or better in at least four full-credit courses, the equivalent of 16 semester hours. Berea is a non-denomination, liberal arts college which offer bachelor of arts degrees in 23 area of study and bachelor of science degrees in agriculture, business administration, industrial arts and nursing. There is no charge fox tuition and each student works at least 10 hours a week to pay livin expenses. AMERICAN LEGION The American Legion will meet o the 4th.
