Pat Jordan Announces Candidacy
For Re-Election To City Council
I Pat Jordan, am announcing that I am a candidate for re-election to
the Hinton City Council. Having served for the past several years I
have seen many changes in our small town and many accomplishments.
We (along with our business owners) have made great strides in cleaning
up and beautifying our downtown area. We now have a city pool along
,with our waterslide. Our technology building houses not only businesses,
but also a certified day care and a modern equipped fitness center. We
are in the process of restoring the Freight Depot. and the Passenger
Station, and there are plans for a community center.
I am a member of the Hinton Elks and The Hinton Lions Club. I
,~oeViously served on the Board of Directors of the Summers County
spital, and I am presently serving as president of the Hinton Little

Concerns
Dear Editor:
Would you please print this letter
to members of The House of
Delegates.
Dear House Members:
Three of you I know from the
"meet the candidates" nights. My
concerns encompise these areas:
1. Sales Taxes--With the removal
of the SALES TAX ON FOOD, the
state has been increasingly placed
in an economic bind. Have you
visited TN and paid a 14% sales tax.
2. The tolls on the WV Turnpike
have made ~t a direct link from the
Great Lakes to Flordia. In 1963, a
gentleman in the VA Beach area said
that the bonds for the WV Turnpike
were the porest investment he'd ever
made. Also there are fees on other
roads in NJ and PA, where you pay
a larger amount for a shorter

Dear Summers County Voters,
What qualities and qualifications
do we need for our elected servants
of the people? Should we look at
character, standards, education, and
experience or just at party
affiliation? If what a person SAYS
he is matches what he REALLY IS,
then we should pay attention.
We would like to introduce you to
a candidate who is running for full-
time Prosecuting Attorney of
Summers County, a man we have
personally known for 24 years. His
name is David Gilbert.
There are few people in life who
can be described by saying, "He is a
man of integrity." David is one of
these people. By growing up in the
small farming community of
Rushford, NY, and helping his dad
work their fourth-generation dairy
farm, he has a strong work ethic and
understands the hardships of
maintaining a small business "on a
shoestring." He became a Christian
as a child, and his faith continues to
be the anchor of his life.
He graduated Summa cum Laude
from Bob Jones University, and was
a Harlen Fiske Stone Scholar (1L
Year) at Columbia Law School. He
married Heather Day (from Nimitz)
and became a corporate lawyer in
NYC. After their first child was born, miles].

David practiced general law with an
older lawyer for six years. He served
as assistant prosecuting attorney
during this time. He then accepted
a position as assistant professor at
Liberty University School of Law for
six years, where he led negotiations
teams to place nationally.
Four years ago, David and

2012. He served in the legislative
session in Charleston last winter,
and has been a trial lawyer in
different venues.
David is a conservative, pro-life,
pro-2nd Amendment, "straight-
down-the-line" candidate. He will be
a thoughtful, compassionate lawyer
who will take a hard stance against
cri'me. We have some serious
problems in our county with drugs,
prostitution, theft, and abuse, to
name a few. These have been
ongoing, unpunished crimes for far
too long. We need a full-time
prosecuting attorney who will do the
job he's elected to do.
