Bern May 20, 1922, at Jumping Branch, she was the daughter of the late Overton and Bessie Harvey Russell. ~ Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker - and a member of the Quinwood i!;~:, Baptist Church. ~ She was preceded in death by • • her husband, Herbert Carl Bennett in 1981. Survivors include three daugh- ters, Lettie Crisp ofManheim, Pa., Fredia Hanna of Columbus, Ohio and Linda Bennett of Quinwood; eight sons, Danny Bennett of Dun- bar, Eddie Bennett of Hopewell, Va., Rodney and Bobby Bennett, both of Bridgewater, Va., Jimmy Bennett of Rainelle and Teddy, Steve and Larry Bennett, all of Quinwood; eight sisters, Hezzie Crawford and Dicyce Miller, both of Hinton, Amanda Allen and Icyce, both of California, Juanita Mize of Meadow Bridge, Patricia Whittaker of Quinwood, Hilda Pritt of Colo- rado and Louise Smith of Colum- bus, Ohio; two brothers, Howard Russell of White Oak and Arnold Russell of Rainelle; 22 grandchil- dren, and three great-grandchil- dren. ~ r~oervices were held Fri. MYRTLE IVY BIARS Mrs. Myrtle Ivy Biars, 98, for- merly of Powleys Creek, died Sat. • 'Feb. 10, at a Marlinton hospital following a long illness. Born Oct. 18, 1891, at Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Landford and Millicent Bragg. She was preceded in death by her husband, August Biars, Oct. 16, 1971. Survivors include three sons, Fred and Edward Biars, both of Hinton and Groper Biars of Asbury; two daughters, Mary Warren of • Martinsburg and Thelma Bennett' i of Pineyview; 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services were held Tues. Feb. 13 Frank Jones offidating. Burial fol- lowed in the family cemetery at Blue Sulphur Springs. The body was at the Smathers Funeral Home in Rainalle and at the church one hour prior to the services. CLARA 8. GRIMMETr Mrs. Clara Shanklin Grimmett, 93, formerly of Hinton, died Wed. Feb. 14 at a Moutrie, Cm., carecenter following a long illness. Born Nov. 6, 1896, in West Vir- ginia, she was the daughter of the late Lenidas and Betty Meadows Shanklin. Mrs. Grimmett had lived moat of her life in Hinton and was a mem- ber of the First Baptist Church of Hinton. Survivors include two rune, Ashby Grimmett of Montrie and George Grimmett of Charleston; seven grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren, and one great.greats grandchild. Services were held Sat. Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with the Rev. D.D. Elwell officiat- ing. Burial followedinthe Restwood Memorial Gardens at Hinton. CHARLES E. HARDY, gR. Charles Everette Hardy, Sr., 63, of Route 2, Fayetteville, W.Va., died Wed. Feb. 14, in an Oak Hill hmpi- tal following a short illness. Born March 21, 1926, at An~l, he was the son of the late French Carl and Opal Hizer Hardy. Mr. Hardy was a retired crane operator from Elkem Metalsat Alloy and attended the Salem Road l~Yee- will Baptist Church and was aWorld War II U. S. Army veteran. (Tiny) Moore, 74, formerly of Pence Springs, died Tues. Feb. 13, at a Washington, D.C. hospital following a long ill- ne~m. Barn Oct. 12, 1915, at Ellenboro, he was the son of the late Andrew H. and Beatrice Curry Moore. Mr. Moore was retired from the United States Air Force with 30 years of service, a World War II Air Force Veteran, a graduate from Glenville State College, a mason, and was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Jean Moore of Hin- ton. Survivors include a son, Major Terry Moore of the United States Marine Corp., formerly of Glenville; two daughters, Colleen McPherson of Alexandria, Vs., and Dr. Erin L. Moore of Fairfax, Vs.; three sisters, Madeline Wells of Parkersburg, Dorothy West of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Nina Emmons of Binghamton, N.Y., and six grandchildren. Services were held Fri. Feb~ 17 at Arlington, Vs. Burial followed on Wed. at 9 a.m. at the Arlington National Cemetery with full mili- tary honors. Arrangements were by the Murphy Funeral Home in Arling- ton, Va. HOLLEY A~ Holley ,~ Pleasant, 88, died Tues. Feb. 13, at 10:15 ram., in aHinton hospital following a long illness. Born May 10, 1901, in Summers County, he was the son of the late Robert Pleasant and Minerva Smith Pleasant Mann Pack. Mr. Pleasant was a lifelong resi- dent of Summers County, was a member of the International Broth- erhood of Firemen and Oilers, was a retired employee of the C&O Railway Company, having retired in 1969 and was a member of the Mt.Carmel Methodist Church at Ballard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbi Willie Pleasant on Feb. 8, 1984. Survivors include a daughter, Pansey Anderson of Kentucky, a sister, Salethiel Mann, of Hinton, and a niece, whom he reared, Bar- bara White, of Charleston. Services were held Fri. Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with the Rev. C. E. Via officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Ballard. MELTON WYKLE Melton Wykle, 86, of 495 Stokes Drive, died Men. Feb. 12 at his home following a long illness. Mr. Wykle was born March 1, 1903. He was a retired farm worker in Monroe County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Fleshman Wykle on Oct. 1, 1986. There are no immediate survi. verb. The body was cremated. Burial will be held at a later date in the Mt. Herman Church Ceme- tery at Sarton. The E. M. Meadows Funeral Home in Hinton is in charge of the arrangements. NORA E. YOUNG Mrs. Nora Elizabeth Young, 81, of 205 Miller Ave., died Wed. Feb. 14 in a Hinton hospital following a long illness. Born Oct. 16, 1908, at Lowell, she was the daughter of the late William I and Mary Frances Mead- ows Carden. Mrs. Young was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hinton. Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, James Lo- ran Young on Oct. 31, 1986 and a daughter, Mary Ellen Young in 1941. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Wilson of Princeton; a sister, Anna Stanley of Hurricane, and one grandchild. Services were held Sat. Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. at the E. M.
